I'd really like to thank the Canadian who 'invented' Hawaiian Pizza back in the '60's.  (Seriously).

I tried it first back in the mid-'80's at the insistence of a buddy who had just opened a pizza delivery store.  It was love at first bite.  I still have it if I am eating a pizza after 6 PM; unlike pepperoni or sausage it doesn't have me waking up at night with indigestion.

Actually only 7 myths, but who's counting.

As a person in the Pizza Biz, I've been a proponent of the skillet reheating method for sometime now, recommending it to any customer who asks.  The method re-crisps the bottom crust and, while it doesn't get the toppings piping hot, it does warm them up to a comforting temperature and consistency.

I've never added the few drops of water to the pan as suggested in the article, but in the name of science, I'll give it a try at my next opportunity.

We first had Hawaiian Pizza on our honeymoon in Hawaii in the late 70's.

The local pizza joint here puts cashews on their Hawaiian Pizzas, two of my favorite tastes in one.  On second thought, six of my favorites: bread, tomatoes, melted cheese, ham, pineapple, and cashews.

The most interesting thing in that article was the Pizza Hut Ad at the bottom showing their Hot Dog Stuffed Crust Pizza! Surprised no one ever came up with that idea before.
HEY JOHN FOX!

LOVEED Hawaiian pizza ever since I first had it in Vancouver, WA in 1986 from a "U-Bake" pizza shop!!  I have a pizza stone at home in the oven that I use to make my own pizzas and also to reheat slices and it works very well for crisping up the crust.  Do people actually reheat pizza in the microwave?  Really??  I tried it once and it was disgusting.  The crust became flimsy and soggy, the oil separated from the cheese and the texture of the slice was just wrong.  So, so wrong.  Never again!

From Palio's Pizza Café menu (a N. TX chain):

Hawaiian Sunrise
all-natural red sauce, Canadian bacon, pineapple, roasted cashews, sun-dried cranberries, mozzarella & cheddar cheese

I forgot about the cranberries.

Knew or never believed all the myths, except the pan reheating. But I'm another "reheat the pizza on a pizza stone in the oven" aficionado. I would like to see someone provide a way where you can reheat pizza in a microwave without the crust turning tough. It might even be doable; I've been getting good results with hot dogs in the microwave for years (wrap them tightly in a half a paper towel; they don't burst, and the skin browns).

I count only one.

It would be a stretch to call items #2 - #7 myths. How about "One Basic Pizza Myth and 6 Crappy Factoids Someone May Have Once Believed?"

No, not in this case; that's for another Wal-Mart house-brand product.

For this most tasty product I only add crushed red peppers, and now perhaps, some cashew halves.

I pre-heat a pizza stone to 400, throw the frozen delight on the stone, and 13 minutes later I have an 8PM 'pizza dinner' that does not 'bother me' during the night.

Canadian bacon, sweet pineapple, mozz, prov and parm cheese might be on the cover but read the fine print ingredients. I still have my taste buds and in no way could I ever say a frozen pizza is "awesome".

There is no way I could ever say a "Hawaiian" thing is awesome -- or even edible. Frozen or not.

Anyone who's ever been in southwest Ohio and ordered a pizza (or "pizza", for you insufferable purists out there) from Cassano's or the like know that item number two (e.g., pizza's a generally cheap foodstuff) is BS.

True. Relatively expensive and very lousy. I cannot stomach 'Dayton-style' pizza like Cassano's, Marion's etc. I would not mind the expense if they were even decent but to my taste they are not. More like frozen pizza than anything else.
