1982 Chevrolet P20 Step-Van food truck for sale (asking $9,000)...Good Price?

Hi everyone,

I found a 1982 Chevrolet P20 Step-Van food truck for sale (asking $9,000), although I wanted to hear your feedback/suggestions on the value before I purchase it.

-1982 Chevrolet P20 Step-Van (RWD), Clean title
-24,000 original miles
-Was rarely used as a fire truck in the past, parked most of the time
-Two owners, originally bought at government auction
-Have not had it mechanically inspected yet
-Runs/starts good
-Electrical interior-no propane/no generator hooked up
-Inside equipment is basic; double sink, fridge, counter
-Small leak inside passenger side

**They're asking $9,000

My concern is a truck this old will become a money pit, even if the original mileage is low. What is a fair value for this truck, how much would you pay?

Thanks so much!

It was probably well maintained by the fire department, on a time schedule not mileage. I would imagine that parts were chained out even if they were perfectly fine. Or it could be a total heap.
If you are interested in it, get a pre purchase inspection. I recently had one done on a cargo van from out of state, cost me $125 it got a clean bill of health.
