That's a long way from Crown Center.
I was going to suggest you go to Anton's downtown, David.

I lost track of where David is staying. It is handy to those who are staying out in Overland Park.

I'm staying at the Westin Crown Center. I kind of want to go to the gas station, even if there's a long wait.

Anton's look like a great menu, but I want to go to Joe's.

I was thinking more along the line of something out of the ordinary. There is an excellent Viennese restaurant downtown that I wanted to see if anyone was interested in going to. Excellent German and Hungarian food. I think that it is the best in the area.

Beethoven's # 9 in Paola (about 13 miles west of Louisburg where Cedar Cove is) has Bierocks.
Is that as good as I've read, Keith?

I think it is very good, particularly the Jaeger Schnitzel

Grunauer - I think that it is better than Beethoven's 9th. Plus it is closer to me. I have to admit though that most of the time I get the Beef Gulasch. Here is their website http://grunauerkc.com/

We'll probably get in a tad too late to join the dinner group, but there are plenty of dining options available for later in the evening.  Plus, I have some fun stops we can make along the way if you're up for it.

With less than a week to go before we all converge on KC, the final guest list looks like this:

Big_g
Sfreader
Ralph Melton & icecreamchick
Davidsanders
wanderingjew-Saturday & Sunday (sticking around until Monday if anyone can join him)
joerogo
ChiTownDiner
ChiBears15
nagle & Wawa Mama
Bonk & Mrs. Bonk
JRPfeff & Pie Diva
schlotz
CNW
BuddyRoadhouse & Mrs. Roadhouse

A total of 19 Roadfooders.  Plus, we may get some other locals who haven't committed (I'm lookin' at you zataar.  It's time we met face to face!), and some of our friends and family who may pop in to join the group.

I'm going to make what could be a controversial suggestion although I hope it will be considered with the sense of camaraderie that it's offered.  We tend to pair up on these Crawls and stick with those we start out with.  How about changing things up a little on this tour.  Assuming we're all going to the same place (I know some of you are planning occasional side trips), why not switch carpools every once in a while?  Let's get some different passengers in with the drivers so we get to know each other better.

Most people are staying close together in Overland Park.  Maybe figure out who's driving and arrange rotating car pools.  At this point we'll be staying closer to downtown with the Meltons, but we can change passengers during the course of the day.

Just a thought. Let me know what you think.

Boy, I was looking at the Anton's menu again (https://antonskc.com/food-menu/). After Joe's, if I really get insane, they have a happy hour (2-5, but starting up again after 10 pm). Maybe I'll try the two mini cheeseburger sliders with slaw ($4) and a small order of fries ($2). Or the steak kabobs ($8). I don't think I've ever been to a non-deli restaurant that regularly had latkes on the menu.

Hopefully I'll just come to my senses and go to bed. Thursday's an early day, starting with Messugah Bagels (hoping to see Gregg and Danny there) before the official breakfast stop at Happy Gillis.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
As I wrap up work on the detailed itinerary, it's come to my attention that it might be a good idea to bring along a cooler, for those traveling by car.  You'll have the opportunity to pick up some excellent fresh meats, including Heritage Pork, at some of our stops.

Okay, maybe it's not bold and underlined important, but at least now you know, so no whining if you see something you like and you're caught short without a cooler.

Be alert.  There could be more IMPORTANT INFORMATION in the next couple of days.

Here is the latest version of the itinerary, including the selection of Breakfast stops near The City/Farmers Market.  I've also provided links for anyplace that has a website so you can get an advance look at their menus.  We were going to include all the internet info on the printed itineraries, but quickly realized clicking on a link on a piece of paper will get you nowhere.

Sorry, no menu at the Cedar Cove Cat Sanctuary.

Several places which had beef ribs have closed.

Jack Stack is now the best place for beef ribs. They have two kinds, but the Crown Prime Beef Short Ribs is the most popular.

Big T’s is a few blocks from LC's where we are going tomorrow and has beef short ribs.
