Bonk,

Talk to Nagle about the absence of St. Louis and Montreal LOL

Regardless, its obvious there are two front runners: Cleveland (Cleveberg) and Minneapolis.  Both are up big and third place is far behind.  Therefore, would anyone be opposed to having the final vote between just the two leaders next week?

Cheers,
Danny

P.S.  I know someone has been messing with the vote totals.  I also know that my trusted Canadian friend only sent the Doodle poll to Roadfooders we thought we could trust, but somehow the Chitowndiner got his hands on the link.  It is pretty darn sad that a traitor is among us.  " />

I think we should have a vote between the top three. Or maybe even the top five. I’d like to give a couple of places another chance. Maybe some people will come to their senses, I mean reconsider.

Why would you want to go somewhere besides Cleveland or Minneapolis?  You said you want to pick a city where you can visit somewhere a few days before the actual crawl.  If its Cleveland, you can hang out in Detroit for a few days.  And if its Minneapolis, you can spend weeks and weeks in Fargo before the crawl begins.  Did you not know that Fargo is a real Roadfood hotbed?

Sorry Bonk. I created the poll while I was at work. I was in a hurry because I actually should have been working so I glanced at the list from an earlier page and must have missed St. Louis. Totally on me.

I left Montreal off the list for several reasons;
Passports needed for all but Jen and I. Not sure how may people have them or would be interested I getting them for a long weekend.
There were already 10 cities on the list and I had to draw the line somewhere.
Last year's runner up was sorta, kinda agreed upon as this year's destination, so I could have had a poll with only Cleveland as an option.

Cheers
John.

Rather than the Doodle voting system,(Which I believe is patterned after the long standing Chicago system) I would like to suggest starting next Saturday June 9th people post their 1 vote for the final choice right here on this thread. Less tampering and votes all on this thread.

Just 1 Canadian's opinion.

I suspected as much when I saw the monkeyshines going on with the poll.  It doesn't matter because we recorded each entry as they came in (ironically, on a spreadsheet), and can accurately reproduce the entire poll in seconds.

It hardly seems worth it though.  We have two very clear finalists in Cleveland and the Twin Cities.  Nobody else even came close in the polling.  With 20 participants the two top entries got 12-13 votes apiece.  The next highest choices got barely half that amount.

Unless someone objects, I second the motion by this thread's originator and our impartial and objective Canadian friend to declare a runoff between the two leaders starting sometime next week.  One vote per person, Twin Cities or Cleveland, and we'll keep a tally.

If you've got a problem with that decision, let us know in public or private and we'll discuss.  Otherwise pick your one favorite from the two top choices and cast your ballot.

ChiBears15, when do you want to open up the voting?

20 bucks goes a LONG way in Pittston!

If it's agreed that the destination will either be MSP or TMBTL it might not be a bad idea for the organizers to start looking at dates that might make each city a little less attractive.  I'm sure the Twin Cities have various lutefisk and hotdish festivals to contend with, and Cleveland could have...uhhh, maybe Brian Sipe Day?

I would like to point out, though, that if Cleveland is chosen anyone planning to attend might want to brush up on his or her Heimlich Maneuver skills.  Because it seems like recently there's been a lot of choking in Cleveland.

Oh, no big deal, I just remember St. Louis was a pretty close third last year.

Better to let CB15 handle this, anyway.  He's younger, more agile, and can take a punch better than old guys like us.

Wow, wasn't expecting MSP to tie Cleveland for first! Very surprising voting results.

Both would be great choices. I've really enjoyed the time I've spent in each city.

I guess that's what happens when Chicagoans are allowed to head to the polls.
