4th of July eats for today

We will be having a traditional menu today;  I will be smoking about 8 racks of baby back ribs for our group of 16; which will be sided by baked beans, some sort of potato dish, pasta salad, vegetable salad, and rolls.  Watermelon and German Chocolate cake for dessert.   I will have to be sneaking my beer, as we will be at the in laws, and they are strict Southern Baptist....I am also, but I make allowances for beer while I barbecue, or go out for the evening, or after mowing the lawn, or watching a Cardinal game...or whatever.

Sounds like a great menu. I grew up Southern Baptist also. We do not drink in front of each other....

yep, i will be hauling out my smoker; then setting up my pop up; plus my lawn chairs,  table, and cooler in the side yard.  No one will bother me out there if I drink a beer or two.   Can't do it in the house...

Good luck with the ribs and the beer!

I'll be grilling bulgabi, (Korean short ribs) and have some low carb sides. No beer for me, though, (I'll leave that to the wife).

I never was much of a one for tradition, so I'm making pasta with artichoke hearts and kalamata olives. No beer for me, I've got to work tomorrow. But I may have a glass of wine with dinner.

We're a group of 6 (actually 7 but the grandson's only 3 months old and will have to wait until next year for the good stuff) so I'm smoking a couple racks of loin back ribs and grilling some chicken thighs and store-bought (Matlaw's) stuffed clams.  Right now pasta salad doctored with olives (black & kalamata) and pepperoni is the only side as I'm the only bean-eater in the group, but we should have plenty for everyone.

Root-Beer Man, I picked up some Sprecher's (Milwaukee) and Gray's (Janesville) along with some vanilla ice cream so there may be floats later on.  And I have a few grown-up beers for myself and the younger daughter's boyfriend, and some of that vile Leinenkugel shandy s...tuff for the son-in-law.

On Sunday I barbecued a brisket, a pork butt, and three racks of back ribs for some friends we had over. We've been eating barbecue ever since. I'm doing burgers tonight.

The Bread & Butter Pickles that Pie Diva made on Sunday were gone in an instant. She's got another batch started for just the two of us.

Cornell chicken and salt potatoes. Maybe one beer while grilling. It's uncomfortably hot out there.

I just finished a Wagyu hot dog in a ball park bun with IKEA mustard.  I didn't like any of it.  Everything seemed sweet.

I was going to have another for dinner but that's now out.  Guess I'll just have macaroni salad.

Grilled burgers, hot dogs, Pittsburg hot links. We had beans and chips as sides and Blue Bell Bride's Cake ice cream for dessert. Just spending the day with my family is great.

Why is a single photo from an iPhone too large for this site? Management finally made it easier to upload photos, yet I can't.
