A Clamber Along SEI Fried Chicken Trail - 2015/16?????

I know there is MANY events being talked about, well what the heck, i will throw another one out there too.

The Clamber Along The SEI Fried Chicken Trail
Date:  TBD  (late 2015/or sometime 2016)
Purpose:  To explore the regional foods (Fried Chicken) and history of SEI.

http://www.metamoraindiana.com/
http://www.franklincountyin.com/
Oldenburg, Indiana
Batesville, Indiana
Greensburg, Indiana

and others

This would be a weekend event like most of the RF adventures are.  Probably a Thurs Night, Friday Saturday & Sunday Brunch or there about.

If interested please comment and from those comments I can gauge whether or not there is enough support to continue planning

Thanks

Late 2015 is probably a no-go for me as there's just too much going on, but depending on the timeframe 2016 could be possible.

CK,
Interesting you should bring this up: Daughter abe_froeman and I were just considering announcing another potential tour for fall, 2015.  Also a multi-day affair based on this post at LTHForum.

FWIW, we're pretty certain we'll do this as a family trip sometime in mid-September.  The only questions are whether we open it up to the masses and if it's even manageable given the geographic expanse involved.

Nothing firm yet.  If we decide to do it, we'll start our own thread; we don't mean to intrude here.

Hey Donald,

You can never plan too many Roadfood events.  I like the way you are thinking.  I would prefer we do this later this year because 2016 is filling up fast for me (St. Augustine/Jacksonville and Pittsburgh crawl).

However, I would only be able to participate all day Saturday and most of Sunday since I am low on vacation days.  Even two days would be worth it for me.

I still owe you for planning that awesome chili crawl in Cincy last Spring (maybe I can treat you to some boudin in Lafayette later this year?).  Take care.

Unfortunately I'm fully booked through next year, so I won't be able to do the fried chicken crawl. As you know I plan to make it to Indiana and Kentucky next year (most likely in late summer/early fall) and hope to make it back to Hollyhock Hill since I haven't been there since 2008. I'm hoping we'll be able to meet up then.

***edit****
Just to let everyone know what we have planned the rest of the 2015 and into 2016

Next month- Heartland tour # 4- Iowa with a little bit of Eastern Nebraska and Southeastern South Dakota

October 2015- San Francisco with Monterey/Carmel and Yosemite (with Sandra)

February 2016- Charlotte (to see my new baby cousin) Charleston SC and Jacksonville/St Augustine (with Sandra)

May 2016-(roadtrip)  Pittsburgh with Lancaster PA and Charleston WV (with Sandra)

Late Summer 2016- Heartland Tour # 5- Indiana and Kentucky (this may be a roadtrip too!)

Fall 2016- San Diego and possibly Sedona AZ to stay with friends who bought a house there (with Sandra)

If this isn't future Jerry Springer material I don't know what is...

WJ, if your 2016 Indiana/Kentucky trip possibly includes the Aug. 24-28 period I might be able to meet you and CK somewhere for some chicken.

Now that you mention it, I did see a definite resemblance between you two in Chicago.  Almost like.........brothers!

I'd clamber for fried chicken but MH doesn't like it so I don't know where that leaves me.

If this is true, I will say to you what i said to both my sons-in-law moments after they said "I do":
"Welcome to the family son, you poor bastard."

So far 3 out of 4 heartland trips just happened to take place in late August (Back to the Breadbasket in 2011 took place in Mid June) so it's more than likely my trip will fall somewhere around those dates
