A great birthday dinner at Fat Willy's in Chicago
I had a great dinner at Fat Willy's Barbecue in Chicago on Wednesday, July 2nd to celebrate my 65th birthday, which is tomorrow.
Here is the mac and cheese appetizer. I think they have changed the recipe. It was still good, but it used to be more garlicky, and now it's a bit more sour.
Here is my plate with the medium size portion of spare ribs, mashed potatoes and gravy, coleslaw, and toast. I didn't bother with the toast.
Here's another photo of the spareribs.
The other three in our party each had a half slab of baby backs. One with sweet potato tater tots and corn on the cob.
One with the mac and cheese side and coleslaw.
And one with a sweet potato and slaw.
For dessert, one of my all-time favorites, which really does work best with four people. A wonderful fresh-baked skillet brownie, topped with ice cream, whipped cream and chopped peanuts. One of the few restaurant desserts I actually find worth the enormous number of calories.
This has been one of my favorite barbecue places for years now, and the place that actually started me going on barbecue trips.
