I have mushrooms!! I don't know what kind, I just know they are huge. What do I do with them? The thought of eating them grosses me out - not to mention I am allergic to fungus. Anyone want them? I just picked them Sunday.
(How do I upload pics? It keeps failing on me...so you can check them out here...mstangen.blogspot.com )

I LOVE mushrooms, but am too unknowledgeable to pick them safely (although that chicken mushroom would be hard to mistake). Is there a specific guide that is the best to help a novice? Also, I am in suburban Columbus, Oh, is it legal to pick mushrooms in city/state parks? Great thread!!

I didn't know there was picking in the fall.  We were always done by around Mother's Day.

My nephew brought us some nice "Hen of the Woods" yesterday. He said that they were at peak mid week, but put off picking 'til Saturday when we had a family event, Cider Day, on 14 October. Our share was about a half pound, and my daughter made a great chicken/mushroom dish last night.

Being unhip, I had to look up "Zoomers" on the Urban Dictionary. I think that you were using it as slang for mushrooms, because the other definition was sort of anti social........

I noticed that also. We have a lot of Morels around here , people walk the woods with GPS and mark the spots and always find the spot again. People here also hunt for Ginseng.
