Apple Butter Festival

This one is Picky Peggy's and my favorite festival. We have made it every year that we have lived here, 7 with this one. It's a lot of fun and has great eats available It is free except for parking, about 5 bucks if you don't want to walk a long ways for free parking. The festival lines both sides of the main drag, US 522, and several side streets. Be sure to get some of their made before your eyes apple butter, it is great.

Enon, Ohio, between Dayton and Springfield (take I-675 to Exit 25/OH 444 just south of I-70 or I-70 Exit 48 (I think that's it--it's between OH 4 and US 68 just west of Springfield)), also has an Apple Butter Festival around the second weekend in October.

There's also one at Hueston Woods State Park outside Oxford, OH each year. Both of the ones mentioned above sound like great fun.

Also an Apple Festival going on this very weekend in Paintsville,Kentucky, in Johnson county...The first weekend in October every year...Tons of yummy food, homemade apple butter, festivities out the wahoo, and lots of good eating!....Tom cold, wet, Eastern Kentucky.
Oh yes!...Loretta Lynn is from this county, from up Butcher Holler, forever immortalized in her song "Coal Miners Daughter"...Her brother Hiram Webb, still has a store at the mouth of the holler, and will show you the old homeplace for a few dollars of course!!...It's worth the trip though!...Loretta use to be the parade marshall for years, but it's been awhile since she's been back.
