Thanks for posting the current headcount.

Chickenplucker is definitely attending. You can move him to the "In" category.

Sadly, JRPfeff and PieDiva won't be attending this. They have better things to do ( seriously 😎).

Mrs. Bonk showed our list of potential stops to a cousin of hers who lives in Nashville, and this was her reply:

"This looks like an awesome trip! I’d also recommend 5 Daughters Bakery just off 12th South. As a precaution, I’d  recommend getting to Pancake Pantry early, or send half the group to stand in line because there’s always a wait.

Otherwise, it looks like a good list!"

I’ve added Five Daughters Bakery to the potential/tentative schedule. Since they appear to sell mainly donuts I thought it could be a quick first stop Friday morning. I have Pancake Pantry at 8 am Thursday morning.

Hopefully I’ll be putting the latest tentative schedule out within a week or so, and will be looking for suggestions, comments, etc. I know there are a number of people who have been there numerous times, and their input will be very helpful.

I thought that this one might be worth a try:

The Proper Bagel
2011 Belmont Blvd
Nashville
Mon-Fri 7:30-4
Sat-Sun 8-4
http://properbagel.com

There's also Star Bagel, http://www.starbagelcafe.com, but they seem to only have nova lox.

I have a feeling we won't be finding another Meshuggah.

Looks good...but I still get confused...

https://www.amny.com/eat-and-drink/a-guide-to-lox-nova-smoked-salmon-and-more-1.7046902

Interesting. I didn't know there was a difference between lox and belly lox. I only thought there was salty (lox or belly lox) and not very salty (nova). I know you had the pastrami salmon at Meshuggah, which I had never heard of and thought they must have come up with themselves.

It seems that nova is not actually lox, since it is smoked and not brined.

You're right............. now I'm confused.

As we inch closer to the Nashville Crawl, any consensus on what area to stay in?  Pricing is definitely higher than most other cities, especially by the airport.  Although, I'm sure I can find a deal.

If CTD is sleeping in his vehicle, maybe he will rent out the other three seats.

I originally booked at the Hyatt Place at the airport, but I also just booked at the Hyatt Place at Opryland, which is about $200 less for the four nights.

Hyatt Place Brentwood is another $200 less for the 4 nights and includes free breakfast...as well as parking and WiFi.

Not wanting to jack around and seeing fairly robust pricing everywhere, I booked at the Hyatt Place Brentwood/Nashville for $107 per night, $503.27 for FOUR nights including WiFi, parking and Free AYCE Breakfast!

I just booked the same deal as Gregg. I was totally expecting to pay around $150 a night for a decent hotel in Nashville. This is a steal at the AAA rate!

Now I have to work on finding a hotel in Gary, IN for Monday and Tuesday night... Gregg is refusing to help me there...

Hi Guys! It has been a while since I visited last!!!

I will be there, health permitting. Since my last post I have gone under the knife three more times. That makes five times since September 28th. When the top hernia repair doc in the Kansas City Area says, "my ego says "yes" and my brain says "hell no"" after looking at my CT and MRI and refers you to the Mayo Clinic, you know that you don't have an ordinary hernia. The docs at Mayo Clinic have been wonderful, my body just isn't cooperating with the plan. The current plan (D I think) is for at least four more procedures in 2018.

Since they had me open for the hernia repair, I had the doctors do a bariatric surgery, so the only up side to this is that I have lost 60 pounds since the surgery. I am back at work making taxpayers lives miserable (so some of them claim) but then I go straight home and veg in my recliner. I have been known to climb straight into bed at three in the afternoon.

I need to stop here or I'll end up giving you TMI! Your Thoughts and Prayers are Appreciated.

Thanks

Chris

I know Chi Bears thinks I'll find a way to visit Nashville but I'll be hanging out in The Rocky Mountain/Wasatch West enjoying some Rocky Mountain Oysters and Lake Trout while you're all enjoying Music City.
I visited Nashville last year (albeit a brief visit) and will be back again in the Fall so I think it will be a  good idea not to get "Nashvilled out" but I'll be thinking of all of you.

I already had to give up that extra day I thought I was going to have  for my weekend summer trip to Delaware due to an unexpected funeral that I had to attend a couple of weeks back.

Topeka was easily the most disappointing city I've ever  been to roadfood wise- three bombs in a row.
Thankfully LC's Burgers made up for it ten fold as my last stop before the airport

I don't collect Hyatt points, so, I booked Four Points by Sheraton right across the street for $90/night.  Maybe they will actually be open when I show up.

Roz and I will come in on Friday evening.  Not sure where staying.  Collect Marriott points.  Some available in Brentwood but Cool Springs just south is much more interesting.  Huge shopping/eating area.  In for Saturday all day and evening Friday and early Sunday morning.
Looking forward to agenda to plan mapping.  Particularly Saturday's agenda.
Roz is celebrating publishing new book, Ph.D and promotion.  This should cap it off.

I don't usually book our hotel this early, but a conversation with CTD this morning got me curious.  I opened up Priceline.com and plugged in my specs, then clicked on the "Express Deals" option in the upper left.  The first option is for a 4-Star Hotel in the Nashville Airport East area, with an 8.4 Guest Rating, going for $75 a night.

After much discussion we pulled the trigger and booked it for four nights; arriving Wednesday April 25th and leaving the morning of Sunday April 29th.  Including fees it all came out to $376.96.  Turns out the location is the Sheraton Music City Hotel.  I looked at a few dozen of the 3,400 guest reviews; mostly very positive with very few negative comments at all.  Free parking, close to I-40.  Wi-fi is free if you sign up for their rewards program, and you don't need to make that decision until you get there.  No charge to sign up for the program.

The deal is still up there if you hurry.

Roadfood tour stayed there several years ago.  I believe Michael Stern had two bus fulls.  Roz and I were there along with Bushie, The Mayor and Poverty pete.  Was OK hotel, large and worth the $75.00
