While I'm not really doing the food stops, I know the local beer scene and taprooms very well. Would be up to playing tour guide if anyone so desires. I haven't posted much on this site in recent years, but along with the Sundancer (Paul) I was part of the Original Glee Club group (I changed my username from pogophiles a few years back). Bearded Iris is great IF you like those hazy NorthEastern style IPAs (I do). Southern Grist is also excellent and has a bit more variety, specializing in hazy IPAs, pastry stouts, fruited sours, and coconut beers. There are now ~20 breweries in the area encompassing a wide range of styles and quality.
Chris

Chris,

We'll be sure to message you on GroupMe for any beer related activities.  Appreciate the heads up on Southern Grist.  Looks like some fine beers.  Download the GroupMe app at some point and monitor this thread for instructions (like the group name).  Welcome to this bunch of characters!

Elliston Place has been visited by Fred Sauceman and myself many times.  It is a favorite of many folks around Vanderbilt.

Don't want to spoil the surprise.  All I can tell you is, it involves a squirrel, a vacuum cleaner hose, and a bottle of hot sauce.  Also, if you have a pair of boxer shorts with significant padding in the rump area, they might come in handy at some point on the trip.

That sounds pretty tame compared to the initiation they put us Canadians through. Am I ever relieved there are new folks this year.

Has everyone picked out a favorite old time country song yet? Inevitably you are going to end up in some dark and seedy honky-tonk where they take song requests. Be prepared, do not embarrass yourselves.

Hey y'all
this morning after a confab with the hubs, I booked our hotel
We'll drive down on Weds, stay thru brunch and drive home Sun.
We'll be at the Embassy Suites at the Nashville Airport.
10 Century Boulevard, Nashville, Tennessee,  +1-615-871-0033
If there is a recap of a rough schedule available- that would be awesome.
Looking forward to seeing everyone

This is turning into a respectable sized group.  If anyone else is ready to commit, please let us know ASAP.  Some of the places we're looking at may require reservations and we'd like to give them accurate numbers.

Quick update on the schedule: A round of applause for Davidsanders who put together an admirable "rough draft" of proposed stops. That list is now in the hands of CTD who, after he's completed his civic mission, will refine it and turn it into one of his infamous Spreadsheets.  We're looking at a meeting sometime in the next week to ten days to discuss the itinerary and should be ready to show it to the group toward the end of the month or beginning of April.

More when it's relevant,
Buddy

Several of us are at the Hyatt Place - Brentwood.

As Buddy mentioned, I have  major commitment right now that will end in another week or so.  As a favor, please click his link, please click on the 2nd link on the left - Click Here For Channel 7 Event Video - which is recorded from last week's live ABC7 interview for my town's restaurant week (which I chair).  I am trying to get numbers up and we crossed 17k last night.  Last year's broke 40k so we got a bit to go.

Two things:

1.  I love the Grand Ole Opry and it is in session only on Tuesday (not there yet), Friday and Saturday (farewell dinner).  I am seeing the show along with the after show backstage tour on Friday.  Cliff, Mariton and Danny are seated in my group.  Feel free to book tickets and I believe there are a few attending a sporting event that night also.

2.  Husk has been on my list for some time.  Earlier posts reflect the firmness that Husk displays regarding pricing and policies.  I have a reservation for Wednesday, April 25th at 6pm.  The reservation is for 6 folks and I have 5 in the group.  This will not be an inexpensive meal and many are not in town yet.  If you are interested in the 6th seat at the table, let me know.

As indicated, will be working with Buddy and David to finish the draft up beginning next week.  Several folks have shot me requests...thanks!  Danny & I depart Chicago on Tuesday at 2pm sharp arriving in Louisville for an overnight.  We'll roll into Nashville mid-day (depending on meals) on Wednesday.

Much more to come....

Do you guys finally throw in the towel and get hitched?

I should check my Wednesday schedule.... Looks like I'll be rolling in from Moab to Denver with a stop for coffee in Grand Junction- then it's The Mexico City Restaurant (home of the fried taco) before the Rockies game, Biker Jim's after the game and The Buckhead Exchange for dinner... I'll have a rocky mountain oyster in honor of your future wedded bliss

As a general statement, everyone should be watching Ugly Delicious  on Netflix.  In relation to this thread, everyone should watch the Fried Chicken episode prior to your trip.  They visit Husk and talk about Nashville hot chicken, as well the cultural history of fried chicken in the U.S. and internationally.  Be aware, there's some NSFW language in it.

ChiTown - Based on your group's reservations and us wanting to see the Sounds Triple-A baseball game maybe the powers-that-be schedule us light on the food excursions that evening.

The Sounds are home each night during our trip but that Friday was my first choice to see a game there all along.

I believe CTD has tickets to the Grand Ol' Opry that night.  The Sounds game starts at 6:30, the curtain goes up at the Opry at 7:00.  We'll probably make Friday's last "official" stop between 4:30-5pm.  That should give everyone time to get where they need to go.  It will also give everyone not interested in minor league baseball or country music a free night to explore or take a nap.
