Yeah, I think I paid over $1.99 for mine as well.  So, not an everyday thing but neither is BK in general.  They are starting to become one of my least favorite fast food places.  The Whopper is still my go to, but their hamburger patty is lacking in flavor than what I remember from years past.  Their take on a Big Mac, the Big King is a joke compared to the former, and their fish sandwich is the worst out of all the chains in my opinion.  They have another new item, the extra long butter burger, that I actually liked.....it was well prepared and fresh when I ordered it.  What has me returning though is this sauce they have called Zesty sauce which is like a cheese sauce and horseradish sauce hybrid.  It's great on their chicken sandwiches.  They have great shakes too.

I've had these before.. the first time was closer to me.. they were very good. Had a nice char on them and a smokey flavor. The second time not as good.

But the third time, I had a bad experience at a location in Pennsylvania. I drove there from New Jersey to pick up a guitar I bought. I had them ship it to FedEx and saved $100 on taxes. So on my way I see a Burger King and decide to stop in.

I ordered one of each. One of the chili cheese dogs and one with mustard, onions, relish. The guy behind the counter seemed to have a little trouble figuring it out. I also ordered a large drink. The price was super cheap.. like $5 for everything or something.

When he handed me my bag, it was very small. I let him know he forgot one of my dogs and it turns out he put in the system one dog with all those topics.  I took it anyway, because I had to get to FedEx before they close.

It was disgusting. Chili and relish do not go together. Their chili is smokey and the relish is tangy.

This visit and the previous visit the dogs weren't charred as nicely as the first time I had them.

Just tried the chili cheese one tonight. They should have asked, "Would you like some hot dog with your salt?" Frankly, I find that the 7-11 Big Bites are noticeably better, at half the price.

The commercial that's been playing around here features a "vendor" who sells "bland, boiled hot dogs" as his job.  Since he's dressed in yellow and black, does that mean he works at PNC Park and a BK hot dog is a better option than the ones sold there?

SC - that was my first thought, too!

The plan is to try one of each on my way home from work tonight... again. We'll see. I've heard both good and bad reviews, so I'm guessing it's like anything else and depends on which location they come from.

Watch the comments about PNC park, please!

Just read Michael Stern's review of BK dogs today.  I'll pass on that really bad bun.....and I don't think the dog was much better.

I saw that, and yeah, I'm sure it's true. However, if you walk into a BK expecting to get a hot dog like you'd find at a good food cart in NYC, then you're the problem moreso than the food, as far as I'm concerned. It's how I feel about 99% of the "reviews" of fast food/chains on this site. Obviously it's not going to be the same as your mom & pop place... that's kind of the entire point.

I had a couple of hot dogs at PNC Park last summer and they were really very good.

I have come to the conclusion that I am simply not meant to eat them. Got out of work early, got done grocery shopping quickly, so we were in the BK drive-thru at 10:45pm (they close at 1am). NO ONE THERE, other than the four cars in the drive-thru waiting to order. It was weird. Like, weird enough my taxi driver called the police to check on the restaurant in case they'd been robbed. So... still haven't eaten the triple-damned hot dogs, and it's possible I never will.

Probably a good idea. That was the third strike after all.

Then perhaps he works at Heinz Field or Consol Energy Center.

He does have a Facebook page...

Something really similar happened to me the first time I went in to try one. The restaurant was supposed to close at midnight (Saturday) and the drive through was supposed to close at 1 AM. I got there about 11:40, the doors were locked, and the staff inside just stared at me. And I wasn't going to be bringing one of those hot dogs into my car (afraid of drippage) so I didn't have them. As mentioned earlier, I tried them a few days ago. I know that I'm not supposed to compare them to good New York cart hot dogs, or even my local Jersey dogs, but I would expect that they would be at LEAST as good as a 7-11 Big Bite. As I said earlier, they weren't.

Had a Chili/Cheese today - Not Good, Not Bad, just average.
The dog was kinda tough & chewy.
Ranked 1 notch below Circle K and QT.

FBM, Do you guys have Quik Trips in Arizona now? I've never experienced WaWa, but QT far surpasses our convenience store offerings in the PNW.

QT started blitzing the Valley about 4-5 years ago.
They've built a bunch of them, all large with a large assortment of food choices.
The QT Kitchens prepare made to order foods and most are pretty good.
I especially like their pretzels.
http://www.quiktrip.com/Food/Made-Fresh-To-Order
From what I understand, they're similar to Sheet's back East.
Never been in a Sheets.
If they can find a vacant corner somewhere they build one.
Circle K still has the largest # of stores but the Mega QT's are catching up fast.
7-11's and AM/PM's are a distant 3-4

I visited yesterday, and duplicated your visit. I agree, and I think that the product will quietly fade away as supplies run out.

Well, the BK hot dogs are still around and, if you liked them before, you might like their July deal.
.79 cents for the month of July for their classic dog.

At .79? You seemed to think they were OK before, if overpriced.

Went back once more, and tried one while I ordered a Whopper...I revised my opinion...more like standard cheaper supermarket dog.
