Big Earl's, Cave Creek, AZ

I just returned from Scottsdale but missed this place in Cave Creek. Looks good:

No apologies for the grease at Big Earl’s

CAVE CREEK – Hamburgers just like mom used to make are now being served out of an appropriate Cave Creek Road location.
The old Standard Oil station that was moved to Cave Creek in 1952 just became Big Earl’s Greasy Eats. Eric Westerlund and Cave Creek Town Councilwoman Kim Brennan opened Big Daddy Mojo at this location near the old Treehouse a couple of years back.
Eric’s dream to someday open a 1950s burger shack led the pair to start offering foods that just seem to taste better because of the grease.
Eric’s recent purchase of a 1969 Lincoln Continental helped to advance his evolution into Big Earl. The Big Earl license plate on the front of the sedan was the first clue that something new was on the Cave Creek restaurant scene.
Now Big Earl spends his days in the kitchen flipping burgers and frying up French fries and sweet potato fries instead of driving around looking for gas stations where he can fill up his huge car.
“It’s such a cool building that we thought that we might as well go for it,” he said about making the old station into a burger shack.
The reaction to the burgers has been great since the grill was turned on last month. Many people who miss good hamburgers in this day of dieting and proper nutrition have decided to make a stop at Big Earl’s daily.
The cook had trouble keeping up with all of the orders for hamburgers last Fiesta Day’s Saturday.
Mayor Vincent Francia and his wife, Amelia Blanco, stop in at Big Earl’s often after their hikes at Spur Cross.
The great burgers have also made Cave Creek Town Marshal Adam Stein a regular visitor.
“It’s been a lot of fun,” Big Earl said about the place becoming a legitimate retro 1950s diner. “There is no apology for the hamburgers being greasy.” The grease is kept down on the fries and burgers by frying them in Canola oil.
“The focus is on using good ingredients and the best meats,” Big Earl said about another reason for the resurgence of the local hamburger popularity.
BLTs and chicken sandwiches are also popular at Big Earl’s.
Biscuits and gravy and the variety of breakfast burritos are traditional morning offerings.
