I agree that "pub burger" pricing is way out of hand.  In Pittston we can get fresh ground Texas Burgers(Greek sauce, onion, ketchup) at The Majestic Lunch for $2.25.  Add a 2nd patty for $1.25!

Sheesh, I can go to Whataburger  and get  for about 8 bucks or so a PattyMelt,Fries and a drink.
They have some other things as well, like a smaller burger  a Whataburger Junior.  The burgers are pretty good.I know my local Whataburger was just packed Sunday.

I would take a good Pattimelt over a Pub Burger any day.

$2.29 at Sonic about 10 miles away, and it's delightful.

As opposed to $2.29 at Sonic two miles away, which is dreadful.

I don't think burger prices are out of control... the cross sales are out of control. Ordering a meal or a side or a drink is where the ROI is for them. I stick to water and no side. Burgers are a complete meal as far as carbs and protein go, in my opinion.

If I'm not eating an Animal Style cheeseburger at In-N-Out, I'm probably eating a loaded Whataburger Junior Cheeseburger. $2.19 plus .50 for the cheese.  http://www.fastfoodmenupr...om/whataburger-prices/

Yep, I said before on this site I think Sonic has the most drastic swings of any chain I eat at.

But it's really good at the good ones.

Maybe I'm just lucky, but I can't recall ever having a bad meal at a Sonic. All the ones we have stopped at over the years do a pretty good job of remaining consistent to the recipes and the food's always made fresh and hot. I've had orders messed up, but that's to be expected when teenagers are the basic workforce, but they've always made them good when it's been brought to their attention.

I've only had them here, when they lasted only about a year. I didn't get it...very mediocre. Maybe that's why here they only lasted a year.

Aaaand here's what I paid at Higgie's, another old-time roadside stand.

I guess it's all a matter of what one sees as having value.  Higgie's, Clamp's, Harry's, and the like are not what's commonly thought of as "gourmet", but they're real burgers, being served in longstanding places that are steeped in their own local traditions, offering a comfortingly classic and unchanging experience - and there's immense value in that, just as there's value in a swanky gastropub burger that's topped with havarti and balsamic glaze.  I'm happy to pay for either.

Much easier and cheaper to install a quality water filter system on your under counter kitchen water line.
Zero solids in the water after install. Four filters provide delicious reverse osmosis water.
Get a good stainless water bottle and take with you when going out.
