The dogs look pretty accurate but the buns appear to be missing the sesame seeds.  I haven't had breakfast yet and a hot dog & fries would taste pretty good right now!

    DOH!!

Apparently my subconscious was thinking about the sesame seed bagel that was on the kitchen counter.  It was good but I still would've rather had a hot dog.

For someone who is local - absolutely!

Here in RI  us locals enjoy Thai Food, Taco's, BBQ, Burgers, pulled pork mac n cheese, ban mi that's  "eating like a local" here in RI. We leave the hot weiners to the drunk, out of town college kids, pizza strips to gramma and grampa and the clam shacks to the tourists.

Don't even tell me you don't eat fried clams!  Quelle horreur!  I'd take fried clams any day over any mac n cheese or a ban mi!!  " />

That's weird. When I lived in RI, as a kid we ate pizza, Italian, clam cakes, Johnny Cakes, hot weiners and all sorts of local delights. Sad to hear they've fallen by the wayside. Probably just another case of too many out of staters moving in.

Things have changed all over since the 1970's or 1980's. Time marches on, nothing stays the same nor is preserved in amber (Does everyone remember who said that before?- I'm not sure why everyone accepted this statement as gospel from this other person). The population of RI has essentially been very stable, not many out of staters moving in with the exception of neighboring New England states. Many millenials are now approaching 40 and their tastes dictate what's hot. And these are folks who have lived here all their lives.
The big thing now in Rhode Island is Dominican Food which has taken on a local shape of it's own. if there is anything that should be considered regional its' the new Dominican and Hmong restaurants that seem to be sprouting up everywhere

I have to agree, WJ. With the closing of Ratztches, the whole restaurant thing is changing.I am old school, and don't like all the new food out there. I will try anything-but just doesn't do it for me. Good memories-I know where to go.
