This is really a terrific report, and I am really sad to hear that it may be WJ's last.  He has a unique voice and a real nose for finding great food, and that expertise will be very much missed.

This report made me long for a map, though.  It seems to be a wide-ranging journey, and, given that it was published in segments, I find it a little hard to visualize the route.  I never was any good at the map reading segment of the Iowa Test of Basic Skills when I was in grade school!

It would be wonderful if the longer, more comprehensive trip reports that involve more than a couple of towns could be accompanied by maps.  Wishful thinking, I suppose.

Anyway, thanks for yet another stellar report!

I think it's a lemon pie.

Okay, but then what?  Are you supposed to eat it naked?  The pie that is not you.  Although...

Shiveringly yours,
Buddy

Growing up my favorite pie was a plain lemon pie from the Frisbie Pie Company of Bridgeport, Connecticut. From the name you might get a hint as to the origin of the throwing disc. In addition to standard size pies they made small, individual pies that sold for a nickel. A sub sandwich, a lemon Frisbie pie and a Pepsi consumed while sitting on the curb or the steps outside Marchitto's grocery store was my favorite lunch.

Back then I never ate my lemon pies unless I was wearing clothes. Things change.

If he is, I hope he was lucky enough to visit Zahn Cheese.

Because Parma's Zahn Cheese is known worldwide!

Get the stuff in the tall green can.  It's in the isle with the macaroni.  (I can't bring myself to say pasta.)

Thanks for your kind words, Rumaki

Even though a new trip is coming, it's essentially a continuation of this trip, therefore I will "complete" this trip.
I do plan to continue doing restaurant reviews. In fact I hope to do one more from this trip before I leave for the next one.
I will also continue to do the end of the year "best of list" in fact my upcoming trip will essentially be my last trip of the year, so I will be thinking about that list afterwards

For everyone else.....

blizzardstormus-
How could we possibly so no to an offer like that!  Our trip is in mid-August and I have yet to do any trip planning.  But, I do know we would love to see you while passing through.
