Chunky: What a chunk of chocolate!!!

They're not the easiest candy to find, but they're special. Anyone remember the pre-1984 Chunky before Nestle bought them out and changed them a bit. Used to be cashews, brazil nuts and raisins in a nice thick chunk of chocolate. . Now just cheaper peanuts and raisins. Still a great taste treat!!!

They're not hard to find around here.  Every CVS pharmacy has them in the candy racks by your feet at the front check-out register area.   They were my favorite as a kid.  Yes, the old recipe was better, but they're still good.

Chunky is my favorite candy bar.  They are hard to find in Chicago with the exception of the major drug store chains which I do not frequent unless needed.  Most supermarkets do not carry then, some specialized food stores do.  Never see them in convenience stores or gas stations.  Maybe that's a good thing....

Thank you, that's nice!

But....  I really shouldn't.

(But I'll also stick that information into a safe, fat place in the back of my head!)

I make something very similar (and easy) at Christmas.  Melt a block of chocolate almond bark (in most grocery stores), fold in raisins and finely chopped pecans, and fill mini-foil dessert cups and let set.  It makes a lot, so you might want to start with melting half the package and experiment with how much raisins to nuts you want, depending on your tastes.  Sam's used to sell a 2 lb melting chocolate (I think it was Ghiradelli) that was perfect for this, but haven't seen it in a couple of years.

I stopped "jonesing" for them years ago after the recipe was changed. The original was a great chunk of chocolate treat.

Chunky - "It's thickerer".

Some years ago there was an article in the Washington Post about men and it said something like  'these days, men don't know whether to act like Arnold Schwartzenegger or Arnold Stang'.
