College Football 2017 !!!

Hey, the season has started already and nobody has started a thread?

C'mon.  Rah! Rah! Sis Boom Bah !!!

Where's the smack talk about your favorite collection of semi-pro thugs gaining their "higher education" through supposedly amateur athletic pursuits - "led" both to sterling character and athletic excellence by $5 million/year coaches who are the highest-paid "public employees" in the nation?

Winning teams have to provide a welcoming, safe environment for their scholar-athletes.

And THE Ohio State University certainly sets that standard, both fir winning and providing that "safe" environment.

Check out the NFL's investigation, including witness transcripts, that The Dallas Morning News published about Ezekiel Elloitt's "life and times" under the care and supervision of his Alma Mater..

Urban Meyer is probably going to use that to recruit.  Lots of gifted young men yearn to grow up to be one of "Jerry's Boyz" and Columbus, Ohio certainly provides a safe environment in which to achieve that.

And JoPa is laughing in Heaven.

I really enjoyed watching the University of Kansas City's inspired comeback against New England Community College last night.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry over this.

But, in any case -- high praise to AK, NV, MT, ND, SD, DE and most of New England for having their priorities in order.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry over this.

The headline's a little misleading...it appears the data's related to the compensation of "public" employees.

I'd be interested in seeing a listing of the top five public employee salaries of each state and how many of them are related to collegiate athletics.  Since Wisconsin's "number one" is basketball I'm betting it's Greg Gard at UW-Madison, and I'd be shocked if Bucky's head football coach Paul Chryst isn't the runner-up.

In Texas we publish a list.  Three of the top five are coaches.

It made the news when U. of Wisconsin's basketball coach passed it's football coach as the highest paid public employee in your state.

It's great for me to see PSU back! Obviously they shocked the BigTen last year not only knocking off OSU, but finishing with a win in B1G Title game. So the returning B1G champs are off to a strong start against inferior teams. Looking forward to B1G opener in Iowa, a tough way to start, on the road at a team who has taken us out when riding on top before. Let's Go State!

Georgia Bulldogs are playing the Bizarro Miss State Bulldogs this weekend here in Athens. Two undefeated teams. Gonna be fun! Do they play football outside the South? SEC!

The Oklahoma-Georgia game on Monday was an all-timer.  On the short list of best games I have ever seen and it's a shame somebody had to lose.  In the nightcap, my Clemson Tigers got our hands handed to us by the Crimson Tide.  If Alabama plays like that again next week, it's hard to imagine the Bulldogs being able to keep up.  Should be an interesting game.

We went to the Foster Farms Bowl in the new Levi’s Stadium to see Purdue beat Arizona. I don’t see how these bowl games make so much money, maybe 20 percent of the seats were filled.

If I'm not mistaken Auburn beat both Georgia and Alabama this season, although it lost to Georgia in the conference championship game.

Looks like Georgia is playing for the Championship.  UCF had a nice season.  Nothing more.  Ya'll come down to ATL for Mary Mac's and a championship game.

Monday's game isn't Georgia vs. Alabama, it's Kirby Smart vs. Nick Saban.  Will the student become the master?

Hell'va ending to the college football season! Love him or hate him, Old Nick switched horses to go with a freshman QB and made it work.

He didn't have a choice! Jalen's got this weird thing where he either blows you away or he plays so badly you wonder if he's ever seen a field before. Last night was the latter. Of course, Saban also gambled on him when he was a freshman QB. I think if Tua doesn't transfer, he's got a decent shot at the starting slot next season.

That game was not good for my blood pressure, but I'm glad I stuck it out to the end. Roll Tide!
