Andreas has a wonderful memory for me. My best friend took me there, and our charming time together was awesome. I have a few things in my home that I bought there. She is gone..

Who invited you to this event?  I know I sure didn't.  After your eating debacle at St. Elmo's Steakhouse last August, I am surprised you are still posting on this forum.  You guys wouldn't believe how much prime rib he left on his plate...

While you are correct, you have omitted a key word...Worst prime rib...and that's why I left it!

Does this mean that your final list of stops will feature only the finest salads?

I would be interested in attending on a Sunday in March. If someone is driving to WI from Chicago I would appreciate a ride from a designated spot.

Hello,

I've narrowed down the date of this trip to either the 12th or the 26th of March.  The problem with this situation is that screamingchicken can't make it on the 12th and CSD is unavailable for the 26th...

Does anyone want to decide?  Jeff?  Gregg?  Maybe even Dale?!?!?!  Haha

Since CTD won't be able to make it to the fish fry on Feb. 24th I vote for the 12th for Kenosha.

We will do this Kenosha event on March 26th.  I will start planning the exact itinerary this week.

Last night at dinner ChicagoStyleDog mentioned that the BP on the northwest corner of I-94 and WI-50 (very close to The Brat Stop) has installed a flattop and is making thin burgers in the style of the recently discussed Redhot Ranch in Chicago.  Just thought I'd throw this out there.

Brad,

Excellent news.  Any chance you want to plan this for us?  You are the Roadfood "Logistics" expert.

I promise I won't order salad anywhere (what the hell was I thinking at Huber's?!).

Are you sure you want to call me a logistics expert in the same post you mention Joe Huber's?

Come up with the list of stops and I'll help work out the order.

Brad,
See what you can do with the below list in terms of an itinerary.  I was thinking we start the official itinerary around 11:00 AM; however, some people can make a few earlier stops if they want.  I will post those as well.

Kenosha Eats:
BP Burger Place (as mentioned by Brad)
The Coffee Pot
Frank's Diner
Interstate Dogs
Renzo's
Andrea's
Ron's Place
The Garage
Trolley Dogs
Tacos El Rey
Andy's Drive In
Salute Italian (This one is located in Racine... Not sure if the group would want to head that far North for dinner).
Captain Mike's - Da Beef (LTH name) AKA KingT (Roadfood handle) really likes this place.  Possible dinner stop.

As for non-Roadfood activities, I thought a visit to one of the below places could help us rebuild our appetites:

Civil War Museum
Kenosha Public Museum
Kenosha History Center

We can also do the sculpture walk and walk to the lighthouse if the weather complies.

Thanks!

Danny

Working on it now...

Interstate Dogs is doing the burgers and given its location at I-94 and WI-50 I'm thinking maybe it might be better suited as an optional, end-of-day stop for those heading south, unless the Milwaukeeans will be going home via 94 as well.

Stay tuned...

Here's what I've come up with so far.  In Kenosha the numbered streets are east-west routes and the numbers get bigger going west, and the numbered avenues run north-south with the numbers getting bigger going south.

Andrea's Gifts, 2401 60th St., 11A-2:30P.  Combination gift shop, men's store, and cafe.
Andy's Drive-In, 2929 Roosevelt Rd. (think 68th St. & 30th Ave.), 8A-2P.
Captain Mike's, 5118 6th Ave., 8A-2A, burgers & bar food.
Coffee Pot, 4914 7th Ave., 7A-1P.  Hey, is that Kyle Orton in the slideshow?
Frank's Diner, 508 58th St., 7A-12:30P, reservations requested for parties of 5 or more.
Interstate Dogs, 12120 75th St., 6A-?, offers breakfast including a VB dog topped with hash browns, cheese, tomato and an egg.
Renzo's, 2820 52nd St., 4P-8P, pizza & Italian, cash only.
Ron's Place, 3301 52nd St., 11A-2A, burgers & sandwiches.
Tacos El Rey, 2000 Birch Rd. (north Kenosha), 12P-9P.
Tacos El Norte, 3450 52nd St., 9A-9P.
The Garage, 3001 60th St., 11A-2A, burgers & bar food, cash only.
Trolley Dogs, 5501 6th Ave., 11A-6P, close to Civil War & public museums as well as lakefront.

A couple of notes.  First, Tenuta's Deli is at 3203 52nd St. in case anyone might want to do a little shopping.  Also, Tacos El Rey is the northernmost suggestion and kind of out away from everything else so I added Tacos El Norte to the list for the sake of discussion.

A lot of the suggestions center around 52nd St., which also happens to be home to Cardinali's Bakery.  Depending on the weather it might be possible to put together a day where there's more walking and less driving.

I escaped to Wisconsin from Chicago in 1980. Kenosha and Racine are my stomping grounds and I've recommended various restaurants in the LTH forum & Roadfood for the past 14 years. My personal recommendations are the following:

The Spot Drive-In Best double cheeseburger in Kenosha. Why it's not on your list is a mystery to me.
The Coffee Pot for breakfast. Best breakfast in Kenosha. Hands down!
Andrea's for a chocolate malt or cigar.
Captain Mike's for a cheeseburger or chili mac and cheese. I've been eating here for years and sent Da Beef here.
Renzo's makes a fabulous pizza turn over.
Interstate Dogs for a double or triple cheeseburger(just like Red Hot Ranch) or try a deep fried "Big Wally."
If Big Star Drive-In is open, excellent cheeseburgers made with Cheeze Whiz.

Half way through the tour, a visit to Tenuta's would allow some time for participants to digest their meals. Eleven is way too late for the Coffee Pot a Sunday. Get there early or be prepared to eat your breakfast at Captain Mike's, two blocks down the street.

The Spot Drive-In Best double cheeseburger in Kenosha. Why it's not on your list is a mystery to me.

We hit The Spot last July 3:

But since some of the people signing up for this tour weren't along then I certainly wouldn't object to another stop.

Thanks for the input!

Yeah, I'd go back to The Spot...Mr. Maki and I owe ChiBears a float, or whatever it was that you covered for us that day

Maybe farther up in the itinerary so we're not so full by the time we hit it?

Extra , Extra, The Big Star Drive-In on Washington Road is officially open!

Hey Buddy, remember the first time you and Suzy ate at the Big Star sitting on a cooler inside the old Grateful Dog van? Weren't you there too, Ann?

I was a chilly BREEZY day to say the least!  That van felt like a tornado shelter that day.  We were happy to have it (and you) there.

I'll echo some thoughts about both Big Star and The Spot.  As much as I enjoy them both, maybe focusing on places we haven't yet explored would be the way to go.  There's no way we'll get to all 13 places on ChiBears15's list.  Why not hit someplace new to the group?  Besides, if you're going to grab a DoubleCheeseBurger at Interstate Dogs, wouldn't a Burger anywhere else just be gilding the lily?

I say all of this as a tentative attendee.  I found out I got scheduled to work that Sunday.  Chances are looking good I'll be able to swap days with someone, but there's still a slight possibility I won't make it.
