Count us in.  Weekdays are better than weekends.  Based on YammeringFoghornLeghorn's limitations, it looks like the only day we all have in common is Friday.  Tomorrow or next week?

Not tomorrow, we'll be in Wautoma with Mrs. Chicken and Foghorn then.

Next week, the Chickens will be on vacation, so it doesn't need to be Friday if that's the call.

Pick a night next week, M-F and we'll be there.  Oops, forgot Mrs. Roadhouse volunteers at the local cat shelter on Ms, T-F.

Buddy,

I'm still wondering what I did to cause that name calling. I apologize anyway.

If I was going to call you names in code it would look like this: NGDCSTEPOS.  But I wouldn't say that to my worst enemy.

Based on ChiBears15's busy schedule, we are focusing on Thursday, August 9, for dinner at Moonshine Pub. Does that work for BuddyRoadhouse & MFL's?

Totally works here, we're in.  We can be there anytime, but the working folks down here might need a later meet up time to give them a chance to get up there.  What works for everybody?  I'm gonna guess 7pm from our end, but I'll see if we can get there earlier.

Pick a time that works best for you. I will eat and join you at 7 for company while you eat. Petar has Vranac wine and 2 different pivos, one I loved and I liked the other.

FWIW, there's loose talk of a post-Moonshine stop at Speed Queen for some carry out 'Que.  And, as always, Kopp's is potentially in the mix.

Absolutely correct!  I forgot Leon's was so close to Moonshine Pub.  A couple pints each of Leon's Raspberry and Cinnamon sound like a nice addition to our freezer.

OTOH, Turtle Sundae and Chocolate Malt are the flavors of the day on 8/9 and Watermelon is the Shake of the Month...two custard stops in one visit???

(Cue the thrilling music track) All the experts said it couldn't (or maybe shouldn't) be done, but we may just prove them wrong!  Stay tuned to find out what happens next.

We've got confirmation for a full car for next week.  ChiBears15 and LAmuse Bouche will both join us for 5pm dinner.

Book it!

Hit the arrow next to the "Quote" button and it pulls up a little menu- it's in there.

Wow! The Moonshine fully lived up to the hype from MFL. #RoadfoodWorthy

UPDATE: This really was a fantastic meal. We ordered everything family-style based on MFL's recommendations and were thrilled with all the food. There were a half dozen more other entrees that also had my interest. We all were satisfied with the amount of food and the price per person including at least one adult beverage and a generous tip was just over $20. A real bargain.

Can't wait to get back to Moonshine Pub & Grill for a second round!  The Burek was the best I've ever had, bar none.  The crispy crackle of the phyllo dough crust encased a rich, creamy cheese and spinach filling creating a melt in your mouth finish.  I really want to try the meat stuffed version next time.

Next up was an exceptional Serb Salad consisting of a huge mound of ripe tomatoes, cucumber, and slivered onions, covered in crumbled Feta Cheese and a light vinaigrette.  Very refreshing.  My only complaint is that it came too early in the meal, so we were unable to pair it up fully with the hot crusty bread, served with Kajmak and Ajvar.  Our server was doing quadruple duty or more, acting as waitress, bartender, bus person and kitchen assistant (and doing a cheerful job of all of it), so I'll forgive the error.

MilwFoodlovers did an outstanding job of ordering the family style feast.  Contrary to ChickenBoy's observation, there was an abundance of protein, all of it beautifully grilled or deep fried.  I was especially partial to the ground meat entries.  The Ćevapčići (skinless sausages) and the Pljeskavica (Serb Burger) were moist and full of intense umami flavor.  The only minor weak link, IMO, was the slightly dry Karađorđe's Schnitzel.  Still, it had good flavor so no major criticism here.

As ВриштањеПилетина (Serbian for ScreamingChicken) points out, there were some vegetables served with our meat.  Even they were very good.  Tender, but not mushy, the Carrots and Green Beans picked up the well seasoned flavors of the meat.  There wasn't much interest in them from the rest of the group and I was happy to pick up the slack.

I'm greatly anticipating a return trip to check out the Cabbage Rolls and the Fried Chicken Dinner.  The latter may seem out of place at Moonshine, but if they do that as well as everything else we tried, it should be some pretty dang good Fried Chicken!

We wrapped up the evening with a short walk over to Leon's Frozen Custard, followed by a lingering stop for Serb pastries at a tiny neighborhood store called Family Grocery, and a second Frozen Custard stop at Kopp's.  There was talk of going up north to grab some carry out BBQ at Speed Queen, but fatigue got the better of us and we decided to head straight home.

Many thanks to MilwFoodlovers for sharing this wonderful discovery, and to JRPfeff & Pie Diva for bringing everyone together.  Let's do it again soon!

Nina & I dined at Moonshine for dinner tonight. We has a cheese burek, a spinach and cheese burek, and a Serbian salad. UFB! Absolutely great! We'll definitely return. After dinner, off to Leon's to split a pineapple malt.

Yummo!!!!

Looks good!  Can't wait to try it!

Mr. Maki and I will be making our annual trip up to Wedl's in Jefferson on Saturday, September 1st.  We're picking up Stricken_Detective on the way.  I'm sure there will be other stops made between Jefferson and Waukesha...I'm thinking of stopping at J. Lauber's in East Troy on the way home and maybe Elegant Farmer.  Other suggestions and joiners are welcome!

I was at Wedl's a couple of months ago and my burger (double w/bacon & cheese) was excellent, so you shouldn't have anything to worry about.

You're in Arlington Heights, right?  Google Maps has 3 ways to get from there to Jefferson (the fastest shows as being I-90 via Rockford, which seems a little counterintuitive and the shortest is US-12); what route are you considering?

We're picking up Stricken in Waukesha first, so just the straightforward 294 route to CR-F.  Getting back to Wedl's and back to the 'Sha is where it could get "scenic" for worthwhile places.

Hey Contingent folks,

Would anyone be up for weeknight dinner at Well Bros. Pizza in Racine Sept. 4th, 5th, or 6th?  I was thinking between 5 or 6PM start time similar to last week's dinner at Moonshine Pub.  Let me know.
