My vote, if it means anything, would be for the same weekend we have been using in the past. The last weekend in April, the 26th to the 28th. If it’s cold, pack an extra pair of mutandes( Long underwear in Italian) 😎

Yes...when I did research the first time around a little over 3 years ago, I found out that a few were up and  running by the first weekend of May but only on weekends, by mid May most were up and running, I'll just need to determine where...

I'm in. I don't have any input regarding the dates. Whatever is decided upon should work. My family lives about 30 miles east of Minneapolis so this is a good choice.

Not everything has to be as sexy and decadent as  a philly cheese steak.......the ancient and outdated pastrami on rye....fried chicken.....deep dish pizza.... fried donuts drenched in unadulterated butter fat and  topped with pulled pork and congealed cheese...blah...blah blah.....
I'm a regionalist and sometimes it's the little things and the local experience that count....

David- I figured you would like that very last item.
I told Sandra you will likely be joining us in MSP next year- I think her daughter the flute player wants to meet you but unfortunately being only 23 years old ... can't quite afford the trip to MSP yet since she's still going to nursing school.

While they're popular in Door County, WI they're certainly not limited to the area.  A few years back The Contingent participated in a boil at a restaurant not too far north of the Illinois state line.

I don't need the fried donuts drenched in anything. I'm happy with just the donuts. But I certainly don't consider a pastrami on rye as outdated. It might be ancient, because it was around long before me, and I'm pretty ancient. I saw about three hundred of them ordered in the hour or so I was at Katz's in February. I also love, love, love fried chicken, as well as deep dish (and thin crust) pizza.

If Sandra's daughter can make it to Minneapolis next year I will be more than happy to talk to her. I guess she's not pursuing the flute as a career, but I hope she is continuing with her music, and going to concerts. Learning a musical instrument at a high level is supposed to help with other endeavors. It's also reported to help keep the brain healthy, although I wonder about that, knowing the 105 other members of the Chicago Symphony as I do. (just kidding.)

Sandra's daughter participates in the local community band-  http://waterfordcommunityband.org/    I've seen a couple of their concerts. In fact they usually play outdoors in Mystic CT over the summer.
Unfortunately I doubt she will go on our trip to MSP- although she loves sweets- her diet mostly consists of virtually gluten free and healthy- something that would cause CTD to turn into a gelatinous mess

It's about 50 miles south of MSP, closer to Albert Lea, MN.  Too bad.  That would have been a fun and easy non-food (yes, I chose my words carefully) stop if it were closer.

My vote, if it means anything, would be for the same weekend we have been using in the past. The last weekend in April, the 26th to the 28th. If it’s cold, pack an extra pair of mutandes( Long underwear in Italian) 😎
