We plan on returning to Japan next Spring and will most likely do that during cherry blossom season, which is the end of March into early April.  As long as the Crawl does not conflict with that, Cousin Johnny, Mariton and I will be there.

I don't think there's going to be much interest in visiting the Twin Cities at the end of March, so you should be safe.

Incidentally, Mothers' Day is May 12 next year.

Excellent, I will work closely with Danny to ensure we completely avoid hotdish and lutefisk.

A Jucy Lucy based tour, and Green Mill pizza, too!

It has been decided that the 2019 Crawl will coincide with the Minnesota State Fair, the most regionally appropriate Minnesota eating experience in existence.

STFU*. I mean it.

Oh...goody !
I love religiously appropriate food
There's nothing like a Lutheran Church basement dinner where you will not only find "hotdish" but multiple takes on "hotdish" and besides who doesn't like a good Jewish Deli or a solid Catholic fish fry?

Looking at the calendar, the weekend of April 20-21 is our only conflict during the block we usually look at. Anything else would be too early...the weather is truly lousy up there until late April.

Options:

April 20-21 (although we have another obligation that weekend)
April 27-28
May 4-5

The next weekend is Mother's Day, two weeks after is Memorial Day, so that's pretty much our spring window.

I would vote latest to earliest.

What about May 16-19, with an opening night dinner on Wednesday the 15th. It would be after Mother’s Day and before Memorial Day weekend. I think any time in April and even possibly the first week of May could be too cold. Wasn’t there something like 10 inches of snow in mid April this year?

I think graduation season comes in to play for some people starting that weekend after Mother's Day.  It's okay for us, but might be an obstacle for others.

We had nearly 20 inches of snow here April 14-15.  That was extremely unusual, though.  Most years, the weather is quite pleasant in April.
There are many colleges and universities in the Twin Cities. They aren't "college towns" as such, but the dates of commencement can affect hotel availability in the cities proper -- less of an issue in the suburbs.  Keep that in mind as you're looking at May dates.  Commencement for my department here at the University of Minnesota is usually on Mother's Day.
