Peppertree, your link didn't work for me but I found the story anyway:

So now I'm curious...of the "legendary" NYC metro area pizza shops, how many offer delivery and how many don't?  Was Di Fara's one of the last holdouts?

If my lifetime of watching network sitcoms is any indication it seems the only food that New Yorkers have delivered is Chinese...

If you have a 90 minute wait why would you need to deliver. DiFara's competes with no-one.....

It's not worth it. I called to order a pie and the delivery time was four days, 21 hours.

A number of years ago, liquor stores in New York State had a mandatory mark up of about 12% on all liquor sold, by law. To be competitive, they all delivered. Some offered to deliver anywhere in state up to the Canadian border.

I hadn't ever thought about that but even though that's funny, there's a ring of truth to it. But that begs the question of why Chinese food and delivery seem synonymous.

Growing up in New York (Long Island) we used to have pizza and heros delivered all the time- Even Italian Dinners- which would come in a pie tray with a lid . Eggplant Parm, Veal Parm always came with Pasta and bread (of course if I had all three carbs now at once, I'd probably drop dread)

Can You please explain me, who invented pizza?
if you can explain it properly that would be great.

Thanks

The Etruscans. It was in the aftermath of the Etruscan-Roman War (311 to 308 BC) that veterans returned to Gary, Indiana and, hankering for some of the food they'd eaten during the fighting, opened up the first pizza place. And that's how Domino's got its start.

Oh c'mon Lee. Little Ceaser's is an obvious homage to The Godfather of Pizza, Caesar Belser. Totally Eyetalian!

Surely you're not suggesting that the founder of Domino's, Tom  Monaghan, isn't Italian.
