My brother and I once had a bratwurst eating contest between us.  I ate 5 fully loaded brats, he ate 6.  That was pretty much the end of the day for both of us.  I think the brats might have won.

Even Adam Richman (Man v. Food) stopped doing "eating challenges".

    Probably on "Dr.'s orders".

If you fail to eat all the food in one of these eating challenges, do you have to give it all back?

I was once at a dried salted lutefisk eating contest ... where they re-constituted the fish with milk and the contestants gorged themselves out of the bowls they were given ... once they started to 'overindulge' the 'runners up' on the stage started to ...

Better yet, I think I have pictures.  Let me see if I can dig them up and post them (for the sake of food journalism) ...

I have a challenge here I call the "Avalanche Challenge", it's 2 stacks of burgers, each stack consists of 4 1/2 lb. burgers with 2 slices of cheese on each one, and a 3 1/4 oz. Louisiana Hot Link sliced and fried on each burger, 3 half rolls on each stack, LTMO on each. $100 gift certificate if you finish in the 1 hour time limit plus no charge for the challenge. $39.95 if you don't. It's been going on about 6-7 years, had 100 to 125 try it, ONE completed it, a 45 or so, 5 ft. 100 lb. Korean American Woman did it in 40 minutes.  Have had some horror stories with some of the early contestants, now a large trash can sits next to them

While researching my next trip to Missouri I came across the Route 66 Challenge in Newburg, MO.

Fortunately the restaurant has a 2-pice pan-fried chicken option on the menu.  I think that might be the wiser choice.
