    Next time you're down south make sure and try a mouthful of sour dirt. You may or may not be glad ya did though.

    It's a thing locally here in middle Georgia in small amounts. Usually kaolin clay from the local mines.

    Used to hear about women in Mississippi eating red clay. Come to find out it is high in iron and folks suffering from anemia and iron deficiencies used to rely on it for relief. Even to the point of craving it.

    In Connecticut , My Grandmother said we had to eat a peck of dirt before we died.
    this was in the 1930's
    I'm 88 now and still working on it.
