Speaking as "Santa Claus" and not tiki--over the years i have had occasion during my "Official capacity" as the Head Elf in Red to taste an amazing amount of Christmas cookies!!--and i have to say that my favorite cookies--while not always being the best TASTING ones--are the ones that are presented to me by the small--and not alway especially clean!-hands of a child that decorated it !! Its amazing how good a blue raindeer with one antler--three eyes and red cinnamon nose can be!!! Merry Christmas to all y'all!!! AND DONT FORGET TO LEAVE ME SOME OF THOSE COOKIES!!!----oh--and a carrot or two for the "Crew"!

As a former New Mexican, I'm disappointed that biscochitos aren't an option...

    We have two longstanding musts:

1 - Shortbread cookies with a dot of raspberry jam, and,

    2 - Bourbon balls.

Beside a taste of nostalgia it's always fun to see who at the office sucks down the bourbon balls.

The favorite Christmas cookies from my youth were Krumkaka and Fattigman. Both were baked by my Norwegian grandmother.

My current favorite is Tabach or Welsh cookies (grilled not baked) which are being made by my wife as I type.

Christmas cookies are, I suppose, those that are made only at Christmas. My all-time favorite cookies are the "warm-from-the-oven" Tollhouse and Oatmeal Raisin; both of which are also made at Christmas. pb
