Time to start taking a roll call.  So far I've got X1, ScreamingChicken, ann peeples, and maybe chicagostyledog on the guest list.  Including us, we'll need a table for seven.  Anyone else gonna make the trip to Burlington this year?  MFL?  Pie Diva?  Gyp?  Flatlanders in general?

Buddy

2pm is too late for lunch and too early for dinner for this diabetic. Sorry

PD, let me know your plans for Saturday.  Your better half has been working with me to get you to Irish Fest if you're interested.  We just got back moments ago.  Pretty good lineup this year and we're definitely returning Staurday after Fred's.

It's that time of year again folks!  Fred's Burgers beckon to us Flatlanders, "C'mon up y'all and grab a bite!"  We're looking at Saturday August 18th at the usual time, 2pm.  The Irish Fest schedule looks fairly uninspired this year, so we're skipping Friday.  If we go at all, it'll be Saturday after Fred's.  If we decide to miss Irish Fest completely, we'll be looking for alternative activities north of the Cheddar Curtain.  Any and all suggestions are appreciated.

Who's in for Fred's?

11am works so much better and leaves more of the afternoon...

MFL, 2pm.

JRP, We'd love to spend the rest of the day with you folks, but unfortunately can't commit specifically to Irish Fest at this time.  We've been going for 28 years and it may have lost its luster for us.  The last few years we've been going more out of habit than a real desire to be there.

I'm certainly not bad-mouthing the event.  For anyone who's never been it's a whole lotta fun.  But lately it seems like the list of performers has been rather stagnant.  Then again, if you've never seen them before it's new to you, and I would encourage you to check it out.

If you want to hang with us after Fred's on Saturday and still go to I.F., I'd recommend going Friday.  They offer half price tickets at the gate ($10 vs. $20), and the crowd seems more manageable than Saturday.

Hope we'll see you all at Fred's!

I'll see if I can convince the boss into an earlier start time.  What does the rest of the gang think?

Well poke my belly and call me the Pillsbury Dough Boy, Mrs. Roadhouse is all in for an earlier start.  We've always gone for the 2pm slot because we'd get home late from Irish Fest Friday night (Saturday morning) and needed the late start to recuperate.  But since we're not going Friday, that's not an issue.

So, tell us what time works best for everyone.

The later start also helped accommodate our large contingent outside of the lunchtime rush without the need to promptly turnover the tables.

Fred's seems to be generally packed between 11:30 and 2:00, and since we usually need at least 1 or 2 larger tables 11:00 (or maybe even 10:45; the kitchen opens at 10:30) would be a good time for the advance scouts to arrive.

As long as we are thinking outside the box and seeking new paradigms, let me point out that the Sun Prairie Sweet Corn Festival occurs that weekend. Probably too far for a combined trip, but I may skip Fred's and go there instead.

Just to muddy the waters a bit...

Since Irish Fest is apparently out of the mix for this year, is there any reason not to go to Fred's on a Sunday?  This would give ChiBears15 a chance to participate because of his work schedule, and if we opted for the later lunch (a complete reversal of my previous position, I know) Luisa's (only 9 miles from Fred's) would become a second lunch/early dinner option for those who might be headed home that way.

Otherwise, Saturday the 18th at 11am is still fine.  I can always check out Luisa's on my own sometime.

We may have reached a point in the discussion where face to face negotiations are in order.  Say Thursday, 5pm at the Moonshine Pub in Milwaukee?

Negotiations were held, compromises were reached, decisions were made.

Fred's, Saturday 8/18, 11am.

Be there or miss out on a really great CheeseBurger.

Plans beyond lunch are still open for discussion.

Yes, Fred's at 11, then we're hoping our CheeseHead friends will have some suggestions for afternoon and evening activities.

Yeah, I know about the grilled ribeyes at The ScreamingChicken's Coop at 5:00. What's happening in between?

There's grilled ribeyes?  After the Burgers at Fred's, sounds like a dangerous case of beef poisoning in the making.

Ribeyes aside, how about some non-eating activities?  Without making a commitment, how much is it per person for one of these escape rooms you and the Diva have been pushing?  Normally I'd be looking for some outdoor nature thing with photo opportunities, but my primary lens is busted and needs repair.

C'mon Wisconsin people, this is your territory.  Tell us what to do on a partly cloudy, temps in the high 70s, summer day.  Any interest in the Russell Military Museum, literally just south of the border?

Talk to us people, we're putting our day in your hands.

They are running a special, 50% off. If we have a full room, it would be about $10 each
