I know there are some "posters" that love chains and that's all they post, post, post and keep on posting about.

However as a Roadfooder  I don't consider as 3 shop operation a chain...

My original post was way too short due to computer/power issues. I finally got the link to work, and Gerardos is easy to find via Google. It is right up there with but different than local favorite, Crown bakery, because Crown is Swedish, and Gerardo is Italian. Both are bakeries, not just a retail store with a defrosting area out back, and both sell a fresh, store made product. Each Gerardos store is different. The original is Gerados Italian, one is Gerados Euorpean, and one (that I have not  been to) is Gerados Cupcake. They use the same sticker on the box at all 3 stores. They are worth a trip.  I wish that I could go more often.

Now that I have the link working, go to "weddings", and then "cake tasting", to see a cake sample pack.  YUM!

We have our share of Roadfood in the Worcester area. After eating you will be full, but take out from Gerados or Crown would be nice to take home if you visit.

Gerado's, Birch Tree, and Queens Cups are now top dogs on the local "best of" list. Crown didn't win this year. Now they just advertise "Voted best in Worcester 54 times" All remain excellent............as a public service, I went to Crown, just to be sure. Crown, under the new owners is as good as ever, so Gerado and the Queen may just be better at social media. I know that the Queen is great at it. I'm just a minor friend of the family, and I'm proud of her. Imagine how her parents feel!!!!!

Nothing wrong with chains though. I think some chains still serve great food nevertheless.

.......and Crown bakery is no longer a chain.......
Long, stand alone, Crown Bakery, mentioned earlier in this thread, opened a branch in the former Mrs Mack's Bakery about a year ago. When I went Saturday to pick up an order, a sign said "CLOSED PERMENTLIE". I don't know why it closed, and the main store is still open. The main Crown has had a major medical clinic next door for years. It closed. The last time I went to the bakery, parking was easy. Great for me, but not so much (I imagine) for the store.
