OK, we've discussed Chicago flourescent green relish. Now how about giardinaria. Most major pickle makers put stuff in jars that they call giardinaria, but down in AZ there WAS (past tense intended!) a place run by a guy from Chicago that sold, among other things, hot dogs with the fixins he claimed were authentic. He had the bright green relish. But he also had some really good hot relishy stuff he called giardinaria but was nothing like what's in those supermarket jars. The veggies were chopped much finer and I believe it had some oil in it not unlike the olive salad for muffalettas. Anybody have a source for this (way) outside Chicago?
