If you don't want to go more than a couple of blocks... http://www.johnysluncheonette.com/
I never actually sat down in the place...it is small...but food is good.
How have I never heard of this place? I must be slipping!
Lee, a few suggestions
1.) RUB BBQ on 23rd near 7th Ave.
2.) Doughnut Plant two doors down from RUB. I know, not a meal...or is it? :)
3.) Hill Country Barbeque on 26th Street between 5th & 6th Aves.
4.) Eisenberg's Sandwich Shop on 5th Ave. between 22nd & 23rd
5.) No. 7 Sub Broadway at 28th Street (I haven't been here but have heard good things about it. Here's the menu: http://www.no7sub.com/home-01.html
) Pretty experimental stuff but they seem to have a following.
6.) Hill Country Chicken on Broadway at 25th Street. The menu: http://www.hillcountrychicken.com/
Went there once and though it was okay but not crazy about it. I'll check it out at least two more times before knowing how I really feel about it.
7.) Eataly on 5th Ave at 23rd Street. the new high end (read: expensive) Italian market by Mario Batali. Just wanted to throw that in there. Bethgrd
ate there a couple of weekends ago and I think they liked it.
8.) Murray's Bagels on 8th Ave between 22nd and 23rd. Love those bagels!
9.) Shake Shack (the dark horse on this day) - maybe... Being that the weather is so awful there probably won't be a line but...you still have to eat it outside. Thought maybe if it clears up a bit.
Hope this helps. Happy Eating!
