Grecian Bread

Daydreaming about Grecian bread on a fine Texas morning. In the restaurants of my youth this was common fare but has mysteriously vanished over the years. A few hot hunks of cottony white bread drenched in garlic butter and served as a side for any number of dishes...what became of Grecian bread?

I remember it from years ago when I lived in Charleston, West Virginia. It was the standard at most places there.

Yes, that's basically what it was/is, but lord it was delicious with a couple dozen fried shrimps or a big hamburger steak drenched in brown gravy.

To me Grecian bread is a large donut shaped braided sesame seeded loaf sold in Greek bakeries. Yours must be a
    local thing.

When the Romans conquered Greece, they replaced it with Roman Meal!
Come to think of it, haven't seen any Roman Meal bread lately either.

Man, I always hated that bread.
Almost as much as salt rising bread.

I know Schwebel's in Youngstown Ohio has Roman Meal listed as one of their brands on their website.
