Hickory, NC

We will be staying in Hickory, NC for a week in July.  Any great restaurants that should not be missed?  We will be making a side trip to Lexington BBQ #1.  Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  Also we will be travleing from Cincinnati to Hickory via I75 & 40.  We will need someplace for lunch along the way.
On the way back we will traveling along I77 through WV, Vi, and Ohio where a lunch suggestion would come in handy.

PS I have already looked at the restaurant tab.

Since dinning on BBQ is purely subjective to personal taste it is for me to not recommend the Lexington BBQ#1.  In my experience it was the worst BBQ I have ever attempted to consume. The meat had little favor the Red slaw seemed like a pointless invention. Lastly the portion ratio for price was not a good value. My dinning partners were from Eastern Tenn. and the agreed with my observations. Better experience of BBQ was at the Ridgewood in Tenn. It is also listed here in Road Food.com. I would not waste the gas to Lexington.

I would. And I do. Go ahead to Lex #1 and decide for yourself. You're so close.
You could go down to Shelby to bridges as well.
