Hot sauce; which one goes on almost anything?

The last hot sauce thread is over a year old, and the question here is a little different.

What is your "go to" hot sauce? For me, #1 is Melinda's, followed by Cholula. I can put those on anything from pizza to chili to eggs to burgers to soups and stews. There are others that I like, but those are my sauces of choice.

Tabasco is still the king. I keep original always handy, but have also become very fond of Chipolte.

McClintock's hot sauce or La Victoria Chipotle sauce, they both have a flavor that isn't overpowered by the taste of vinegar, which is my problem with Tabasco.

Marie Sharp's Hot Sauce (that's the "medium" blend).

A fantastic alternative to Tabasco brand is Louisiana Gold.

Just returned from Pawleys SC. All restaurants that i visisted had Texas Pete on the table- pretty good. I've learned from RF that Cholula is really great, but Tabasco is pretty much my standard.

I really like the new Tabasco Chipotle sauce. When I want a less smoky flavor, I use regular Tabasco, or Frank's Red Hot for something a little milder. I also like the green Tabasco on certain dishes like fish or chicken.

Cholula is my everyday hot sauce. Tabasco -- regular is next. Tabasco habanero is a special one, and the Tabasco chipotle is great on some of the strangest things, including hash browns.

I really prefer any sauce with habeneros. Good ol' Tabasco will always do ina pinch. The habenero based sauces seem a bit more complex. I can't imagine life with no hot sauce!

Tabasco is the standard for a very good reason. We eat dinner in the living room, and there's always a bottle by my chair. It just kind of lives there.

It sort of depends what I'm eating. I like Sriracha for southeast asian food, turkish pepper sauce for middle eastern, Crystal for just about everything else, including hash browns. Haven't tried Tabasco Chipotle yet, it sounds good. And nothing like a warm tortilla, corn or flour, with Cholula. Oh yes, and Melinda's is great on mashed potatoes and in corn chowder.

Cholula is still tops by a long shot, for me. It can go on or in almost anything. I can't imagine eggs w/o it.

As long as they're going for flavor and not pain, I've found that most add something to bland foods. When they start raising blisters on your skin, well, there's stupid, and then there's STOOOPIDD! If I want pain I'll visit the dentist.

I've tried a pretty healthy selection (my wife always stops at the Peppers store in Rehobeth Beach on the way home) and I keep heading for Melindas more than others. I have just about all of the varieties and find they have the best balance of heat, spiciness and complex flavor. I don't care for fortified sauces- that's cheating in my book and exists only for guys who have to prove their masculinity. Nor, sauces with sophmoric bodily function or off-color names- you can't taste a marketing gimmick. Tabasco, etal are ok but taste like ketchup to me anymore.

for everyday, keep it on the table with the salt and pepper, use--i like Tabasco--but i find that either Franks Redhot or Louisianna Gold taste just as good and are often less then 1/2 the price---i do keep Tabascos mini bottle in the glove box though! I also have at least 1/2 dozen other assorted hot sauces that i use for speicfic foods---i LOVE asian hot and sweet chili sauce!--and Ti La You--the chinese hot oil (that i probably spelled wrong)--Chololo for my eggs!! and tacos/burritos--and Pepper sauce for greens. I also use alot of just plain PEPPERS---fresh and dried both--which often make the sauce unnessesary. i often see Lousianna-"Tabasco"-style sauces for sale from lots of local producers--they are usually cheap and i find that most of them work and taste fine for all porpuse table use--so i buy them and have found only two that i didnt finish--one that just was too bland and one that was tasted once and tossed---for 39 cents---its worth a shot!

I left out Tennessee Sunshine, it's great on steamed oysters as well.

I like that sauce, but there is something off-putting about the color green on eggs.

I'm with Jennifer. If I want vinegar, I'll use vinegar. Pico Pica is my go to sauce, and is always sitting on my table. The rich chile taste is wonderful. And not a lick of vinegar either.

I'm with you on the pico pica, Captain. It's really a sauce
with body. I put it on everthing from hamburgers to chili to Thai food to French fries
and of course Mexican Food. I don't know how far east you can find it. It might be a west coast thing.

I just bought Tabasco's new Habanero Sauce. It's nice and hot but has a little additional Carribean character due to fruits and spices they use when brewing it. It is awesome! I think I'm gonna buy a case!

Ring of Fire xtra hot habanaro sauce is the one for me. Adjust the heat by adjusting the volume. I get other hot sauces as gifts but usually end up throwing them away after they sit around and get in the way.

IMHO, I think Tabasco sauce is terrible.

I like it, but I don't think it's hot; just spicy. When I was younger, and had a tongue of iron, I used to say that it was good for teething babies, but now that I'm old, I can't take the heat like I used to.

Bushie gave me a bottle of Marie Sharp's Prickly Pear Green Habanero.
I only eat it by itself, by the spoonful. It's so good, I don't want anything distracting from the flavor, although I'm thinking of putting some scrambled eggs underneath it, one of these times.
