How is your labor situation?

My brother just got back from Cape Cod. The college kids have gone back to school, but labor is needed thru (and past) Labor Day. He reported restaurants with lines outside, and empty sections inside.

I prefer to not be seated than to be seated and get crappy service, so I understand what the owners are doing. No wonder "some people" may choose to hire a worker when he/she may not be legal, when maybe they are. Mortgage payments go on, even in difficult labor situations.

At least 30 years ago we hired a really good guy. After a few weeks he failed to show up. The same day we got mail about his SSN not being a "match". When we sent his W2 at the end of the year, it came back undelivered. We saved the info for years. I wonder (not really) what will happen to the with holding money we sent in on his behalf.

Maybe they can bus up some GM line workers and steel guys and girls.
Americans supposedly are craving those restaurant jobs.
