You're welcome, small joints like that never have a decent online menu option

As someone who does not like a bunch of veggies and garnishes on a sandwich, I appreciate that andouille po boy!

That poboy looks good. I've been through Westwego a few times and will have to stop in Market WeGo to grab a poboy. Thanks for posting.

I like burgers and I like mayo, yet I don't think I've ever had mayo on a burger so that needs to change the next time I fire up the grill.  How crusty was Gotti's bread?

Not crusty enough. And you have to be kidding when you say you've never had mayo on a burger, right?

Nope, at least not during my (chronologically) adult years.  It's always mustard or mustard & Secret Stadium Sauce.

However, I do like mayo on a cold roast beef sandwich.

I hope you've tried Lusty Monk, it's the finest mustard I've come across in my travels.

Top Three in Nola:
1. Parkway Bakery
2. Domilieses
3. Johnny's in the FQ.

Went to the Roadfood Fest in Nola, and they had another event on Royal St. with the world record Longest Poor Boy. Individual restaurants each supplied about 10 feet of poor boy.  We helped eat the Parkway Bakery's section. The whole thing was over 300 feet long, IIRC.

That's a good top 3, radically different than mine but there's some good eats on there.

I have never had mayonnaise on a hamburger either.  It just not  seem to go together.  Maybe, it is because I do not like lettuce and tomatoes on my hamburger.

What's the local opinion of cheese on a hamburger po boy?  Is it encouraged?  Forbidden?  Somewhere in between?  I'm genetically programmed to put cheese on burgers but don't want to break the rules...

I can get on board with a sandwich like that.

So NOLA Village doesn't carry enough weight to be a DMZ?

DeMilitarized Zone.  Your comment about wanting to get back to your hotel alive has me thinking that the neighborhood's not the best, and I was wondering if the market serves as a "you don't shoot me, I don't shoot you" place.

Chess Gotti's BBQ and Seafood (rare hamburger po boy)

RL, thanks for giving me the inspiration to take a gander at my own version of a hamburger po boy.

I don't know if Louisiana po boys ever come with cheese but when I make a burger I have to have some, and for a weeknight supper those "take and bake" loaves are handy.

The spread is Duke's mayo with some Slap Ya Mama mixed in.  Good stuff!
