Interesting post on Serious Eats

...on breakfast favorites in several cities.

I'd like to try that Pittsburgh selection.  I think triple D did a segment there.  I also approve of the New York selection.  I'd include the meat (bacon, sausage patty or ham) augmented variety.  I miss those!

"But if I ever leave this city, the thing I’ll miss more than anything else is the most mundane, most workaday, and most overlooked morning meal New York has to offer: the egg on a roll."

I have left the city (NYC) and I do miss that breakfast, although I usually added bacon & cheese.

That simple breakfast of a fried egg on a buttered NY "hard roll" was my morning ritual while rushing to work during the early sixties in NYC. Thanks for the memory.

I'd be happy to try all of them!  Building your own biscuits sounds really good, and the French toast in L.A. looks very tasty.  Me, I love Brenda's French Soul Food for breakfast in SF, but I've had Plow bookmarked for a while and need to try it.

I simply cannot believe that the Texas staple of Chicken Fried Steak w/ cream gravy was not listed.

Even though Dallas is the CFS Capital of the World I've only tried it twice in my 11 years 'down here'.  Gimme that Pittsburgh ham off the bone any day!

Willa Jean's is real. Best biscuits in New Orleans and that's saying something as there are dozens of places to get good ones in the city.
