Irma

We're on the East Coast of FL (Melbourne), about midway between Jacksonville & Miami, so we missed the brunt of the storm. The house received some minor damage but nothing structural. We lost water & electric sometime after midnight, but both are back on. That's not typical of what's happened down here. Three friends from southwest FL drove up to weather the storm with us; considering what we see of their area (Naples), they may be with us for a while.

How's everyone out there doing?

Flooding here in east central Georgia with 40 MPH gusts and the dog needs to pee. Luckier than most below me...

Good luck to everyone.  I have family in Jacksonville and Fort Lauderdale and haven't heard a thing and communication doesn't seem to be working.

My cousin in Fort Lauderdale lost his home in Homestead during Andrew.  I sure hope he's okay. He's now in his late 80s.

We have friends that live in Hollywood, which is next to Lauderdale & we got a text from them that they lost power shortly after Irma hit the mainland. The Miami area really got hit with a big water surge from the NE quadrant of the the storm's winds.

It is good to hear that some Floridians came away with only minor damage. I am starting to hear horror stories about the Keys.

My family in Viera also had power and water out for just a short time, back on now.

We are in Cape Coral, FL, just at the western edge of Irma's eye wall track.  Relatively minor damage.  The ones who got it the worst are in the Keys.  Mostly just yard clean up for us.  A couple plants lost.  Minor stuff.   My biggest loss will be replacing the screens in the pool enclosure.  I cut them before the storm to save the enclosure framing.  Some people lost their entire enclosure if they left the screens in place.
