    My All-Time Favorite was:

But, -ly, they went out of business.

Their beer pretzels were the BEST (Snyder's doesn't even come close).

Ideally, I washed them down with this:

If I could find them in my local grocery, this is what I'd have. They're potato chip crack.

And I'd be dipping them in this:

And, in a perfect world, I'd wash it down with one of these:

Unfortunately, I'm dieting and these beloved items are outside my range.

I would love to find thick cut potato chips.  Regular chips have gotten so thin it is almost unbelievable!

That's what I like about the Simply Lays chips. A nice thick slice of potato and it's nicely salted, too.

Yeah, you keep saying such provocative, RF Rule-straining things like: "That's what I like about the Simply Lays chips. A nice thick slice of potato and it's nicely salted, too." and they'll block you!

On a more serious note, I looked for the "Simply Lays" at my Wal-Mart "Neighborhood Market" and couldn't find them.  I'll try their "Super Center" later.

They have to be available here in DFW; Frito-Lay's Corporate HQ is just down the road in Plano!

In the meantime, I did pick up some Lipton Onion Soup Mix and a pint of sour cream to make my favorite dip.

I have never seen them in Walmart, Jim. My local Meijer carries them on occasion and I used to be able to get them regularly at Marsh, before they went under. If I were in Tejas I think I'd look at a regular, upscale grocery. Maybe HEB or a Publix (if you guys have them). They might also be available at Target. Very few places carry them, for some odd reason. I have to find a new source, myself.

    O.K., now I'm on a  quest.

One of the nice things we have here in McKinney, TX () is a sufficiency of choice when it comes to grocery stores:  three Wal-Mart Super Centers (+ a Wal-Mart "Neighborhood Grocery"), three Target Super Centers, three Kroger's (two "Signatures" and their first "Super Center"), two Market Streets (kind'a Wegman's light), Brookshire's, Albertson's, Ton Thumb (Safeway), La Independencia Supermercado (Mexican, Spanish-only spoken), Sam's, Costco, and a monstrous Winco.  And let's not forget Sprouts and a Whole Foods that lets you charge your Tesla "for free" whilst you have your wallet drained inside.  And H.E.B. is coming soon.

So, I have to be able to find "Simply Lays" somewhere!

I ran across the can of Charles chips a couple of years ago at the The Anderson's General Store (now out of business as well) and got really excited to have one of my childhood favorites.  Then I saw they were charging like $20 a tin for them.  Some things are just better left to memories.

Indeed.  They weren't available at the store - at least in New Wilmington, PA and Charlottesville, VA they were "delivery only" items.  You left the empty can with the payment for last week's delivery and the delivery request at the front door.

I loved both their "Beer Pretzels" and their "Cheddar Cheese Pretzels.  Both were heavily salted, unlike the Snyder's of today.
