I'm in with Regina.
Can't wait!!
Haven't been there in years. Still remember Mulates, and love Lafayette.
What airport do we fly into? New Orleans? Or is there national service to Lafayette.

It'll be real good to see the both of you again!

It looks like I snoozed and lost!  What are the chances of getting another or bigger bus?  Could there be a ticket purchase for a "car pool tag along?"  Maybe get Uber involved?

After making a few phone calls, I was convinced we can sell a few more tickets and not have it detract from the incredible experience we are going to provide.

10 more seats are available now - http://roadfood.com/store/cajuneatingtour/

We will not be adding any more.  Hope you can join us!

Hi, I did get charged on paypal but have not gotten any other information or confirmation. I'm assuming I have a spot and additional information/confirmation will be forthcoming? Just checking! Thanks!

jasminecaden - as it's a pretty small group, there has never been any tickets.  Over the years, a paypal confirmation confirms payment and then a week or so out, we get an email telling us when the bus will leave from the hosting hotel.  Might even be posted here.  Most stay at the host hotel but some at other places and they meander over and we're off!  Hope that helps a bit.

"meander over and we're off" means get up at the crack of dawn, dash over and be ready for 7 stops before leaving on the bus!

This is a near perfect location for me! Considering I'm about an hour from Lafayette, I'm in! I don't think I'll buy a ticket, but plan to show up to the places on the tour. :) It'd be great to meet as many of you as I can.

OK. Let me rephrase. I believe my post construes the wrong idea, which is different than my intention.

I understand the tickets are sold out and more will be available based on availability. I want to participate. If I cannot obtain a ticket, and that was my assumption in my above post, then what (is) are my option(s)?

My apology for sending a negative message and if you found it offensive. I am not that type of individual.

Re: Join us for the 2015 Eating Tour in Cajun Country - Lafayette, LA 2015/05/24 11:40:59 (permalink)
PieBakerM, a belated welcome to Roadfood and to the Forums!  I don't speak for anyone else on the site but if I may offer up an opinion...

Sometimes on the Roadfood tours, certain establishments are not open to the public, just for the tour group (as was the case at "The Spot" on the New Haven, CT tour) so you may not be able to join in at those places.
Scroll about 3/4 of the way down the page in Buffetbuster's Trip Report:  http://www.roadfood.com/Forums/Connecticut-Roadfood-Bus-Tour-2012-m714071.aspx

Or the establishment may still be open to the public but the tour group may have a separate room set aside with a separate menu from the everyday offerings that was factored into the cost of the tour ticket.

Also, I believe that the organizers plan out the stops with the restaurants well in advance and being that many RF establishments are on the small side they sometimes like to know how many people will be on the tour so they can be prepared to handle a large group (which some of them do not get on a regular basis).  A few extra people here and there can add up to 10, 15, etc and that can throw off the restaurant in terms of having enough food for everyone, seating and space.

I'd suggest sending a message via the Contact Roadfood.com link at the bottom of the home page.  Select Stephen Rushmore (the tour organizer) and ask if there might be any stops on the tour where someone who doesn't have a ticket could join in and meet-up with some of their fellow Roadfooders.

For what it's worth, I didn't get the impression that Mr. Hoffman was offended but his reply could have used more exposition.

billyboy explained it perfectly. I know when the tour was in Chicago/Milwaukee, just showing up was not an option for the reasons billyboy stated. However, I was invited to join the group at one stop after I inquired.

And you are not quickly scrawling out more??  How else are you going to pay for the pre-trip spreadsheet trip through cajun country??

I so wanted to join this year's adventure especially since it is 1 in cajun country and 2 at the annual Boudin cookoff.  To be a judge at that event, you all dont understand the wonderful taste experience you will be taking part of., but the tickets sold out before I had a chance to get on line, both times (no crying smilie available)

billyboy - Thank you much. Very clear explanation. Honestly I had no idea that is how the tours are sorted and planned. However, I can understand.

Also, thank you for the welcome. It's great to be a member here. So far my interactions with the members have been great & I've very much enjoyed the content.

Michael Hoffman - No problem. I think it is difficult to read into emotion on message boards. As a result, there can be differences in the intent of posts/messages. I appreciate the suggestion.

PieBakerM - While the "OFFICIAL" roadfood tour has "tickets" and such the many unofficial meat ups, tours and crawls are everyone welcome.  Most of them are listed in this section of the forum and can include just about anything.

If you are interested in any of them, chime in and be sure to add your .02$, that way you can know when and where these are happening.

Currently in discussion phase:

Pittsburgh Crawl (1st weekend in May 2016)
New England Monthly Meet Ups (Dates and times vary but always good eats)
The Contingent Meat & Eats (Chicago area usually)
The Western KY BBQ Appreciation Society and Glee Club (Glee Club) (Usually a warm weather BBQ destination on Presidents Day Weekend) Jacksonville / St Augustine 2016
Alaskan Fly or Drive (Summer 2016)
Annual New Jersey Hot Dog Tour (12th Annual) (Sept 12, 2015)

The newest of these meat & eats "The Crawl" started 2 years ago in Cincinnati with a Chili Crawl, then traveled to the Windy City for a Chicago Style Hot Dog and Italian Beef Crawl, and is headed next to the Steel City so them yinzers can show us how to eat properly.

We no longer post the New England/Boston Monthly meetups on the forum. Posters from Rhode Island, Mass and CT have made it abundantly clear that they are not interested in attending by being non responsive. If there is a the remote chance that there are some roadfooders who are interested in attending, then please feel free to PM me or one of the other participants and we'll add you to the e-mail list

I was wondering about the New England/Boston meetups.  I thought maybe you guys stopped doing it.   Being a former New Englander, I always liked reading about your monthly get-togethers.  Sorry you stopped posting about them.
