For those of you arriving hungry on Thursday, several of us are meeting for dinner at:

Villager's Cafe
8400 Maurice Ave (Highway 167)
Maurice, LA
337-898-1554
http://www.villagerscafe.net/hours.html

This is a short drive from the hotel, very casual and a great introduction to Po Boys!  We'll meet at 6:30pm for anyone interested in joining the group and hang out for bit seeing who can tell the biggest whopper!  Hope to see you there...

Hmmmm, I'm part of a group with a daunting schedule, but we could probably squeeze that dinner in!

For those who don't read emails, I just sent this to everyone participating:

Greetings Everyone,

A week from now we should all be in Lafayette with an appetite that is ready for the most unique and gluttonous eating tour we have done in the past eleven years.  Here are some important logistical points to make the experience the most enjoyable:

1. While the official eating tour starts on Friday morning, many people have informal get-togethers before and afterwards.  The unofficial dinning spot on Thursday night at 6:30 PM is going to be the Villagers Café (8400 Maurice Avenue, Maurice, LA).  Many of us will depart from the Hometown Suites and I am sure there will be some carpooling happening for those who don’t have transport.  It is about a 20 minute ride.  Be sure to try the pot roast po’boy and french fries.

2. The official eating tour starts at 6:45 AM on Friday.  That means the wheels on the bus will go round-n-round at 6:46 AM, so please arrive a few minutes early so you don’t miss out on a full day.  We will be departing from the Homewood Suites (201 Kaliste Saloom Rd, Lafayette).  Our first spot will be a quick breakfast joint, and then our second and final official destination will be between 8 AM until 5 PM.  Feel free to bring your favorite libation – we are going to have fun.

3. Towards the end of the afternoon there will be an optional drop-off in town to attend Downtown Alive – a free public music event that is featuring Jimmie Vaughan (yes, brother of Stevie).  It is a wonderful setting that brings together the community.  That runs until 8:30 PM, so you may want to dress accordingly.  For those not participating, you will be back the hotel around 5:45 PM.

4. Our Saturday will also have an unofficial gathering at Café des Amis for the Zydeco breakfast.  Bring your dancing shoes.  The bus for the official tour will depart at 10 AM from the Homewood suites, so people can attend that breakfast earlier.  We will then be heading to the Boudin Cookoff for a couple hours and then heading to a few more restaurants.  We should be returning back to the hotel around 8 PM.

I am super excited for the event and looking forward to seeing everyone (again).

Safe travels!

WOW!!!  Looks great Stephen!  For Saturday's breakfast, is there transportation or should we car pool?  I need to save my energy for all that dancing!

There are 2 Café des Amis in LA, New Iberia and Breaux Bridge, I'm assuming the later; right?

I've seen him dance before. I'll need a table facing away from the dance floor!

I don't know whether it's true, but I've been told he does his dancing on tables, so you might want to reconsider sitting at one regardless of the direction it faces.

Hey all, I noticed on another thread that some of you were looking to head over to Hansen's Sno-Blitz before or after the tour, but they are closed for the season.  There is a sno-ball cart that is open everyday from 11:00am - 6:30pm.  It's called Imperial Woodpecker Sno-Balls and they're located at 1 Poydras Street New Orleans, Louisiana (on the Spanish Plaza at the Riverwalk Marketplace across from Harrahs Casino).  I met the owner, Neesa Peterson, when she had a shop here in NYC and she has some great stuff.  Here's her website:  http://www.iwsnoballs.com

And a these were the sno-balls that my GF and I tried when we were there.  My Mardi Gras King Cake sno-ball:

And Dayna's Tiger Blood (strawberry syrup with sweetened condensed cream added, I believe) sno-ball:

Anyone have room in their car for 2 for Villagers Café?
We're flying in won't have wheels.
We should be in at around 2pm so no problem with 6:30pm.

Excited to meet and eat!

Arriving Thursday afternoon from New Orleans. Planning to run out to Eunice and Mowata to pick up some goodies (ice chest loaded in trunk) then meet for dinner.

Glad I read the forum, did not realize the lobby meet time was 6pm. Can take two in back seat.

Charles (newbie)

p.s. A buddy of mine flew back (he's working in Cali) and will join us, Scott.

I look forward to seeing everyone tonight at 6 in the lobby. I will need a ride to dinner.

My flight out on Sunday morning is at 6 a.m.  Is anyone else on that flight to Atlanta who can give me a ride to the airport, or would like to share a cab? The hotel shuttle doesn't start until 6 a.m.  I have the number of the taxi service and can arrange for a cab at 5 a.m.
