Join us for the 2015 Eating Tour in Cajun Country - Lafayette, LA

Join us in the land of crawfish and cracklins, gumbo and gateau sirop, all to the beat of zydeco rhythm and blues. Cajun Louisiana is a world unto itself, an exotic rural paradise very different from the city of New Orleans and unlike any other dining destination in America.

The 2015 Roadfood tour will take participants to the unique eats found in the region's out-of-the-way cafes, butcher shops, bakeries, and smoke houses. In addition, tour participants will be V.I.P. judges at the annual Boudin Cook-Off in Lafayette and will also be invited guests at one of Cajun country's signature culinary rituals – a once-in-a-lifetime dining experience. (Details on that one to be announced.)

The tour will be headquartered in Lafayette, known as America's Cajun Capital – a perfect staging area for exploration into the countryside. A special deal on hotel room rates there will soon be announced.

The ticket price of $299 includes a place on the bus and a couple of the special meals, but most food will be pay as you go.  Tickets go on sale at 11 AM ET on Tuesday here - http://roadfood.com/store/cajuneatingtour/

There is no doubt that this one of the great eating regions of the country.  I haven't done very much exploring in this area, but based on the few places I have been to, (Robin's, Café de Amis, Middendorf's), this is my kind of food!

Hi Stephen,

Do you have to be a Roadfood Insider to purchase a ticket or is this open to everyone?  One more thing.  Last year I had trouble purchasing a ticket for the tour because I would get an "invoice already paid" error on paypal.  Do you think I will run into this issue again?  Thanks.

Regards,
Danny Nowak

Danny, you don't need to be an Insider the purchase a ticket.  Let me know if you experience any problems - I'll make sure you are taken care of.

Everyone else - since this may be my last "official" Roadfood eating tour that I am organizing, I am doing everything possible to make this an event of a lifetime.  The dial is being turned to 11.

That's fitting since this is the 11th Roadfood Bus Tour!

Seems to only work with PayPal.  Tried a credit card and a debit card and got thrown off both times.

Cajun country is one of my favorite eating places. We seem to get there a lot. Unfortunately, if our plans go as we intend we will probably be in New England at that time. We have already chased around the country some 14,000 miles this spring.

My favorite places are Shuck's in Abbeville and Prejean's in Carencro, maybe because we can stay overnight in their parking lots with our little motorhome?  Gator Cove in Lafayette is just a down and sloppy crawfish boil not to be missed.

I'm in with Regina.
Can't wait!!
Haven't been there in years. Still remember Mulates, and love Lafayette.
What airport do we fly into? New Orleans? Or is there national service to Lafayette.

david_winograd-
Looks like United, Delta and American Airlines all fly into Lafayette.  Usually, though, the cost of flying into these smaller airports is quite a bit more, but you should take a look.  And don't forget that Baton Rouge is also just an hour away, so you may want to look there, also.

My group will be flying in and out of New Orleans for better prices and because we want to spend a drive checking out restaurants around the city.  But, if you fly into New Orleans, you will have to find a way to Lafayette.

Done and done.
We're booked on United to fly from Orlando to Lafayette getting there Thursday late afternoon, at the Candlewood checking out Sunday and flying home with a humongous layover in Houston for 6 hours before getting home to Florida.

It was cheaper to fly into New Orleans and my heart is there, but either driving the 750 miles each way and then paying through the nose to park, or trying to get from N'Awlins to Lafayette wouldn't be fun.

So, as usual, through some money at it, and Presto! Problem solved.

The cuisine is far more aligned to my palate than was bland NC BBQ.
If I recall, a lot of the cajun food will hit you smartly on the back of the head with a cast iron frying pan to get your attention.

How many seats were available on this trip? Couldn't be a lot since it sold out so fast. We bought our tickets one minute if they went on sale.

This, outside of Enzo's on Arthur Avenue in the Bronx, is my favorite kind of eating and this trip seems made for me.
Regina, has never tasted Cajun food.

Getting your introduction on a Roadfood trip is most assuredly the way to learn the tastes, stories and derivation of Cajun food.

Education at it's finest!!
