...I was about to be "de-virginized".

Luckily the place setting provides instructions, however my waitress said she would assist as well.

I really enjoyed my first experience and it actually led to a happy ending...

Say WHAT????

I swear this web site gets racier and racier every time I log on here.

It seems to me that losing your virginity and getting crabs at the same time is just bad luck.

Ok I'll confess- I truly never connected the two- Our "wry" friend Howard Baratz did that all on his own.

Sorry, didn't make it to Chestertown this time, maybe next time

There is a place in Chestertown, The Old Wharf, That had the best crab bisque I have ever had, but that was many years ago. Don't know if it is still there, or the same.

Great photos!!  I love Little Italy in Baltimore.  I get there about once a year and I have a "Eat Bertha's Mussels" bumper sticker.  Great place as well.

I thought I would resurrect this five year old thread because all of my old trip reports deserve to be resurrected.
Actually back in October I had a very strange weekend family reunion in the Baltimore- DC area. It was very spur of the moment and I met my younger half sister for the first time as well as my father's 95 year old, older brother who I only met once, 28 years ago, and he didn't even remember meeting me. The following day I devoted to Roadfood and ended up meeting  Buffetbuster's Cousin Johnny for crab cakes at G & M. My photos of the crab cakes have always been less than stellar. I finally got a decent photo- and the crab cakes were just as good as ever.

G & M's crab cakes are the best I've ever had.  Period.

I know that you were joking, but it is true!!! Your old reports are models of what we should all strive to write.

Even the sides in the above picture look great. Green beans are almost always limp, greyish green things put on the side of a plate as an after thought. The beans in the picture look to be a "10".
Thanks!!

Thanks for updating it Dale; this flew under my radar when you originally posted it.  Now in Virginia, St Mary's county & Charlotte Hall is an easy ride.  I feel a road trip coming on.  I checked the google reviews on St Mary's Landing and the reviews are great & bad but I'm curious about the stuffed ham; never had it.
Apparently my grandfather attended Charlotte Hall Military Academy and I found some very old pictures of the place in the family archive. About a year ago I went there for alumni day and shared them with the group. The school had a run of over 200 years (1774-1976).

I have made stuffed ham, but never Maryland style.  This gives you a rough idea of what it is.  Sounds good and looks great in Dale's picture.

This is similar to the stuffed ham that I make, but I use a bone-in ham.  I got my recipe from a Maryland cookbook.  The best stuffed ham that I have ever had in a restaurant in a tiny place called Tall Timbers, MD. It is part of of

The restaurant part is called "Chiefs".  Their stuffed ham is so delicious, we bought 10 pounds to bring home.

About how much does a G&M crab cake weigh?  Are they fairly light?  Or do they have a bit of density?

Those crab cakes are fairly dense- they're certainly no lightweights

The crab cakes are eight ounces each. They're virtually all crab, and they're the absolute best I've ever had in my life. I owe Greymo for introducing me to them.

I owe it to myself (and Signman deserves half the credit) for introducing it to roadfood

Are you still conducting the poll on where to go?  Two noteworthy end of the year closings in Milwaukee and Chicago might influence your plans.

The only thing left this year is a day trip to that archaic tourist trap, the Carnegie Deli next Saturday. Sandra just threw a wrench into next year's trip plans that may effect where I go in 2017, 2018 and beyond, I'm still trying to figure out how we can potentially make Hawaii work on top of San Diego (if Southwest flew to Hawaii, it would be easily doable but because they don't- that's gonna kick out my potentially planned trips for next year either into the following year or may kick them out altogether.

YOU are going to a NYC deli????  Next you'll be having lunch at McDonald's or Burger King.  By the way, none of those places are Kinda Krabby.

At the same time I do plan on returning to those LEGENDARY Iconic Legendary Boston Restasurants, Durgin Park, Union Oyster House and No Name Restaurant this winter.

You know, I liked the No Name better before they made it all fancy schmancy.  It was more fun when it was a dump.  Well, the whole Seaport area was a dump.  Not anymore!  I have never been to Durgin Park and was only at Union Oyster House once.  I try to avoid archaic tourist traps.

I don't know how I missed this thread five years ago, but I am sure glad WJ resurrected it!

Some of the best meals I have ever wrapped my mouth around have been enjoyed in Baltimore, Annapolis, and the Maryland Eastern Shore - not only shellfish, but Italian as well.  These folk really have a way with all food; that creamed, chipped beef got my mouth watering ...

For those unfortunates who have never been to G&M, do not deprive yourselves:  the 'real deal' is only a click and a card away.  That's the only way to enjoy a crab cake here in Dallas.

Maryland is definitely Krab Kapitol!  I love their soft-shell Krabs but one of the best things I ever ate was the cream of crab soup at Chubby's BBQ.  I just bought some fresh crabmeat at Costco yesterday.  That soup could be in the near future.  I think I also need to order some G&M crabcakes for the holidays.
