Lets talk BLTs. Please give your opinion

Lets talk BLTs.
Bread=toasted or not.
Lettuce=shredded or leaf.
Tomatoes=minimum or load it up.
Bacon=overload or just a few slices.
Any add ons? Cheese. onions. mustard, etc.

Saw someone at a festival today selling nothing but BLTs and they could not keep up. Sold out in short time. The margin is outrageous on these things.

So I come to you, the experts for your feelings on this as an item.

    Lets talk BLTs.     My favorite.  I once ate 4 of 'em -- 17 slices of bacon.  YUM!
    Bread=toasted or not.   Very lightly toasted or very fresh bread.  Wheat or white is OK; rye is not.

    Lettuce=shredded or leaf.   Shredded?   WTH !

    Tomatoes=minimum or load it up.  2 thick slices please from a Farmers' Market stand.

    Bacon=overload or just a few slices.   4 slices crisscrossed, a bit chewy, not too crisp, don't want to break a tooth.

    Any add ons? Cheese. onions. mustard, etc.  Lathered with Hellman's mayo on both slices of bread.  Don't need all that other junk.

    They did 6 slices real nice bacon, Texas Toast toasted, Shredded lettuce, Real nice gob of mayo on each side, 2 huge really ripe tomatoes, lots of people opted for diced onions and cheese slice.

    it was a real good looking sandwich. Oh, and the bacon was not cooked on site (was very crispy), no way to fry it. Bread was toasted to order.

    Charged 7.50 basic and .25 for each addition (cheese onions etc) and people could not pay it fast enough. 2 workers, I guess to be husband and wife, she took orders and handed out, he assembled the sandwiches.

    Equipment wise, the trailer was next to empty. 4 Ice chests and 2-6 slice house toasters.

    I love simple ideas like this. I have been planning one out since we got home, keep stopping myself from over  complicating it.

    Mustard on a BLT approaches ketchup on a hot dog ūüĆ≠. It should be illegal.

    Exactly what I was thinking......except I had a chili dog yesterday and put a little bit on it. heh.
    Took a buddy of mine to a local cheesesteak/hoagie place years ago and he put mustard on his cheesesteak.
    I said, "I don't even know you."
    Ahhh, and I forgot to add a sprinkle of black pepper on my BLT.  Oh and leaf lettuce, while I've had romaine, should be iceberg and more crunchy than leafy.  And I'd have no trouble paying $7.50 for 6 slices.

    BLT's happen when the first ripe tomatoes of the season. White toast, 4 bacon slices is about right, crisp whole leaves of ice burgh lettuce and lots of mayo. We don't even buy tomatoes in the winter.

    Completely agree!

    When I do make a BLT: Toast, leaf lettuce, lots of bacon & tomato, cheese and just a little bit of mayo.

    White toast, a little Boston lettuce (butter lettuce to those West Coast heathens), a slice or two of tomato, two rashers of bacon, plenty of mayonnaise and some salt and pepper.

    EDIT: lleechef pointed out that I forgot to include foie gras. She's right. The foie gras always goes between the tomato and the bacon.

    Perfect for your wife when you build her Lemonade Trailer. Add BLTs for next to nothing! I should contact her directly and tell her the idea. You will never rest again! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

    Seriously, not a bad idea at all.

    A serious Ripe ice cold tomato that tastes like a REAL tomato is a major flavor component in this delicacy. It can certainly be left out, I need it in mine; Plain white bread, lots of mayo on top and bottom, torn ice berg leafs, 2 big juicy tomatoes, at least 4 slices of Hickory smoke bacon, some slivered onion, black pepper, and to be left alone while I travel to heaven......

    Almost have a trailer figured out for this.

    I never make them, but there is a place near my office that gives a higher preponderance of bacon than lettuce or tomato to a greater extent than any other place I've had a BLT at. I'm happy to have the lettuce and tomato on there, but I love having a lot of bacon.

    I either get it on toast or in a wrap and as I don't like mayo, I usually go with honey mustard, which this place has. That little sweetness mixes very well with the saltiness of all that bacon.

    Someone I work with ordered one with a sliced hard boiled egg once and I decided to try it. I loved it and get that most of the time now. I find it's a great combination of flavors and textures.

    I know this is too untraditional for a lot of people, but I didn't eat BLTs for most of my life and don't feel tradition-bound on this sandwich like I do with something like corned beef on rye or an Italian hoagie.

    I might go check this out.
    They have a ribeye Philly Cheesesteak too and Asian Fried Chicken too!

    I add rings of raw onion sometimes... gives it an added flavor I like. Probably not something for everyone, but I love onions.
