You are bringing back some great memories billyboy!  That meal at Padilla's was a real winner.  Thanks for finishing up the report in style.

Once again, these photos are raw-

I disagree, I thought everything was rather well-done.

And a belated congrats to Chris and Amy!

WJ, my last couple of trips to places that I had hoped to post about were a bust. I even had some very so so fried clams at a place that used to be known for great clams. I try not to post about places that I would not return to. One of the places has already closed on it's own without my help! But..........thanks for reminding us why we come here.........

Is there another thread going about a recent lack of Roadfood reviews?

I know I've been slacking. I blame it on the lack of an easy to use and long-term image hosting site. I go back and look at some of my earlier trip reports where I put in a lot of time and effort, only to find none of the pictures show up anymore. That's killed my incentive to post more reports.

The reason why I brought back this trip report is because Sandra and I will be taking a cross country trip to New Mexico in 2 years and she can't handle spicy food at all, so I don't know where we can possibly go as a compromise. I'm going to have to do a lot of research on this and/or hope there are some "gringo" options on some of these menus.

That's odd.  I just went back and looked at my last year's trip report on Alaska and all the pics are there.  Maybe it's not old enough yet.

Dale, there are always gringo options!

I could dive into a plate of stuffed soppapillas... ground beef, bean and lettuce filled or a spopapilla filled with honey.

You can order cheese enchiladas without the salsas.  They're still good.  They also have in some places queso sauces that aren't spicy.  Maybe even a spinach enchilada.

There are salads. There are meat or chicken dishes.  Just ask for the sauce on the side and then she can judge the spiciness or just ask if they have a mild sauce.

But...  she's missing out on some great flavors!

There's always rice!

Mar,

I think it's easier with Cal Mex- which she loves. Sandra has been to San Diego before and she looks forward to those fish tacos when we return next spring. However in New Mexico just about everything is served with Green or Red Chili which is either going to be incredibly spicy or borderline scorching. I know there will be a way to overcome this but it won't be easy.

Then think stuffed sopapillas.  No salsa at all!

His statement is NOT showing up in every forum-I checked current. They are only showing up in the old trip reports. Why? We don't know.

Not me-only the old trip reports. Obviously there is some computer glitch we don't know about. CTD post in another thread showed up 5x. I am sure  this is no fault of his.

I saw that too, but that was 5 times in a row in one forum. What we were talking about was the same post in many forums! For over a year a few posters here (one I know of for sure) posts EVERYTHING twice, Don't know if that was a glitch. If it is, it's been going on for a very long time.

Please quit speaking to me as if I am an idiot.I KNOW what a few of you are talking about. I am not here to police this site-not my job. Just trying to find an explanation. Well thanks for running me off to a different site for the day. I feel you are personally attacking WJ and I feel the need to defend him( as I have done with you, leethebard on several occasions when I feel you were being singled out) And isn't it interesting that NOW I am getting responses because people want to disagree with me or prove me wrong. Jeez.

Ann, leethebard and everybody else..........I don't think anyone is picking on anyone and I don't believe that Dale actually posted that on EVERY thread.  Makes no sense.  Nobody is an idiot.  I don't have an explanation for that post since I am not a moderator.  Puhleese.......let's not pick on each other.
