Its just one off ebay
I think this is it
https://www.ebay.com/itm/7-TFT-LCD-Monitor-for-RV-Truck-Trailer-Wireless-Car-Rear-View-Backup-Camera/223149823668?hash=item33f4c416b4:g:UF4AAOSwPkBajCA~

The signal was not as strong as I hoped
So I made it into a wired unit, instead of wireless
Just had to order the wire

Its not great at night
But thats not what I got it for

During daylight, its great, clear, bright
love being able to parallel park the beast

I also ordered 2 of these
https://www.ebay.com/itm/7-TFT-LCD-Car-Rear-View-Backup-Monitor-with-Car-Rear-View-Backup-Camera-Kits/253621913018?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649

Im planning to add the cameras to the sides
maybe to the mirrors, not sure yet
and have the monitors on all the time when driving

The mirrors only show so much

The snow and cold are here.
It has actually been pretty dead since Sept hit.
Oct was a couple of sporadic events.
Even on a few nice days, no one would come out for lunch service.
Well... a few.   But it's not work starting the truck for $100.
Did a few craft sales.
That actually started to look promising.

But now I got a J.O.B.
Gotta pay the bills right??

Funny thing is...  it's at a place that is doing custom fabrication.
Turning shipping containers into medical labs.
So much of it is very similar to building the truck.

The things I did and learned building the truck are what lead into this.
The pay is pretty decent.

It's actually looking like its going to be a pretty big project.
5 year timeline.

I have been told I can come and go as I want.
Work my own hours.

So we will just have to wait and see where we are come next spring.

Steady pay, no expenses, no real responsibility, .....  kinda neat.
The end of the day.... is actually.... the end of the day.
First time in 25 years, I am not having to get a vehicle based on what I am doing.
I can actually drive whatever the hell I want.  WOW what a concept!

And best of all.... I am actually doing something I enjoy!
This fabrication stuff is FUN!

I LIKED working in the truck.
I loved BUILDING the truck.

Now to be able to this, and get paid for it....

I could get used to this.

Best of luck with your new job.  I work full time and food truck in my spare time.  A steady paycheck makes the food truck a lot less stressful and more fun IMO.  You can pick and choose your setup locations and events better when you are setting up because you want to not because you have to.

I actually DID get time off for xmas.
It's so strange....

Still really liking the job.
REALLY like this whole "payday" thing :)

Wish I knew better what to do about next season....

The city is planning to DOUBLE the fees to park downtown again from what I hear.
So that puts the kybosch on the lunch crowd thing no matter how you look at it.

That leaves weekend gigs.

Assuming the job continues.....   we won't know 100% until spring - ish.
I would like to think I can work during the week
And do the truck on weekends.
But who knows...

That kinda makes it hard to make plans or book anything.

For now, I'm just gonna ride the train, and wait and see.

Re: Master Plan, Part Deux .... 2019/07/15 00:33:00 (permalink) ☄ Helpfulby SRoberts006 2019/07/16 09:37:37
So I have not been back here in a while.

Update:

The J.O.B.  .....  well I'm done for now.
Boss wanted to put a halt to project #2 until ....  well I think till he figures out if build #1 actually works.
Which is good, cause it was getting time for a break anyway.
Timing was such that I would have had july off.... ( no pay of course )

So I ducked out a couple weeks early and licenced the truck.

The fees did not go up ( thank Cheesus )

First day back was a night market.
To say I was a little rusty was an understatement.

And we got slammed hard for 7 straight hours.
No time to even turn around.
WOW!!   that was a blast!!

I knew I missed it..... but wow.....just   wow....

Been hittin the streets for the lunch gigs, and doing great.

Been doing some corporate events.

Booked in all season at a great farmers market for Sat.

And still booking other things in between.

Have a few private gigs booked.

More and more requests all the time.

Honestly... hard to keep up.
Compared to last year....year 2 is totally bananas !!
Booked into Sept.

Just did my first car show on Sat.
It started slow, but then BAM   sold sold sold
It was great !

Had to spend today welding the muffler on 2 of my generators.
It takes half a day, cause I have to disconnect, and take everything apart to get them off the truck.
But overall, super happy with the way these things perform.

Got better bread - more artisan style.
Got better chips to serve.
upped my prices...
And still going like nuts.

Just been operating for 4 weeks so far this season, and income is easily double, and probably closer to triple this time last year.

So it can be done!

You can build it yourself.
You can run an all electric truck.

Hopefully you can have your cheesecake and eat it too.

Awesome.  I'm happy for you and happy that you decided to share all of your great information.  Gonna have to go back to the beginning and re-read your entire build.  Thanks for all the work!!
