Well almost everything.

I THOUGHT that putting RV plumbing antifreeze down the drains would have prevented the waste tanks from freezing.

WRONG!

Only a couple of gallons of water in there, but I guess its enough to dilute the antifreeze to the point of being useless.

NOT happy!

Guess tomorrow we try the boiling water trick.  and more antifreeze.

On the upside, I got my lighting figured out.

I started out with these.

I was so sure these were the way to go.
Low profile, super bright.
Run the whole length of the truck.

Once I had them up, tho, it was a whole other case.
I love the blue - ish color for many things.
Not in the truck.
Maybe it the white walls.
But it was too much.

Plus the draw was 110 watts be set.  I have 4.

Tried 2 or 3 other things I had.

Finally I tried the original lights I bought when I started this journey.

I picked them up at Sams Club on one of my trips.

They are by far the brightest, nice natural color, and only about 45 watts.

Wish I could have the newer ones they carry now, because they are linkable.
But these will have to do.

I see you are making progress. I have been on a break from my build due to some family stuff but trying to get back to it.

Got some nice weather going on..... for Winnipeg.....in December.....
Actually above zero for a couple of days.
I think it made it to 2 today.   That's just around 35 to yoos guys down dare.

Ice melts on the roads, in the sunlight.  But not in the frozen tanks below my truck.

Must have melted my brain though.  Had an idea.
Can't get it inside somewhere warm.
But I can create a warm room....at least around the tanks.

I had a bunch of insulation left over, so I stuffed it up around the tank.
Then made kind of a box of insulation below the tank.
And stuck my construction heater under there.

The tanks have that handy aluminum shield along the bottom and sides, so I figured it would be safe.

Worked better than I had hoped.

Tanks are all defrosted.
In just a couple hours.

I'm so much happier now !

Thanks to paulnye for the inspiration in this thread!!

I decided to order myself a vinyl cutter and DIY the graphics as well.

I do see the benefits of a wrap for cleaning, but hard to chock down the 10k plus price tag.
Maybe later down the road.

Did a lot a research and reading reviews.
Finally decided on THIS model. The 34 in version.  28 inch version looked too small.

They do have a version that is $100 cheaper, but too many of the reviews were sketchy.
Some were great, with no problems.
Many others were unhappy right outa the box.

So the slightly higher priced version seemed like a much better bet.

Normally I would shoot for saving the money and going cheaper, but I am driving down to the USA again to pick it up, so returns are not an option for me.  Especially with a shorter warranty period.

Also gonna take full advantage of the trip down, and ordered a bunch of other stuff.

The best of which is this Shiatsu Massage Chair...
( My one reward for selling my vending route )

Been wanting one of these for YEARS!!

But up here.... like usual.... kind of hard to choke down the $2500 price tag just for a mid range model.
Heck the cheapest model here runs $1100.  I can get that off ebay for about $450, and free delivery.
Even with exchange that's still half the price.

So I opted for the mid range model, and it will still be cheaper than the cheapest one here.

Gonna be so nice after a long day of slingin grilled cheese.
Some how I gotta figure out a way to write it off.
I'm sure I can list it under "tools" :)

Re: Master Plan, Part Deux .... 2017/12/11 19:28:26 (permalink)
Got back at it this weekend.
And as usual things had to be changed.

Because I opted to go with the new ss table, I had to re think whatever was behind and below it.
The wall and the floor.
I was leaving them alone before, because they were all getting covered with cabinets.
But now with the table, they would be open.

So I re skinned everything with aluminum sheeting.
And re capped and sealed all the corners.
Gotta make it look good AND be easy to clean.

I was able to utilize ONE of the file cabinets. Seen on the right.
I skinned it with the aluminum, the secured it.

Nice deep drawers.

Brought in the fridge and the freezer.
The freezer got the top skinned with the aluminum.
It's a used unit, and a little more beat up than I thought.
Not bad now.

If anyone can remember way back when, I wanted to use this freezer for holding the cold stuff....
cheese, veggies, etc.
The pans were a great fit, but not perfect.
Had to add a something to hold the pans on one side.
I had this 3 x 3 section of pvc or abs, not sure.
But it was great.

Just cut it down, did some carving and a little silicone.

Inferno
Check out this, it works. I turned my chest freezers into coolers.
https://www.amazon.com/Inkbird-Itc-308-Temperature-Controller-Thermostat/dp/B011296704/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?ie=UTF8&qid=1508899544&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=inkbird+itc-308&psc=1

And I listened to Inferno and ordered one of these.

And I was even able to get my big ss table in.

Just have to secure everything.

The table and the file cabinet depth are a perfect match.
I am setting the table to be the same height.  34 inches.

Did a lot of testing, and that is the best height for me.
Might even raise the freezer to match.

uuuhhh ....  hhhmmm
Outside it's about 32 inches wide.
About 22 inches deep.
About 32 inches high.

Can't remember the cubic feet.
Next time I will see if there is a plate on it or something that tells me.

I just know I was looking for something that would fit in that space.
It's a PITA with that little section that juts out.
But that's where the gas tank filler is.
Can't change it.    .....   Well, I coulda changed it, but not easily.

Pretty sure it was a 7 or 9 cubic foot.
I know it's bigger that the other one I got.

Wow your really making some good progress towards the home stretch brother!!

That aluminum sheeting you seem to use for everything sure looks fancy, just have a big roll of it kicking around? Or sheets?

Congrats on the vinyl cutter purchase, that alone will pay for itself many times over I presume. Found any good well written tutorials on how to use it trouble free yet?

Do you just plan on opening/closing the chest freezer lid with every use? Or leave it open for some time while it's in frequent use?

I bought a whole wack load of the aluminum in sheets way back when this all started for $10 a sheet
From a guy who made trailers
Old stock
Only a couple left now

Little snag on the cutter
Arrived at my depot today
They shipped the vinyl but not the cutter
No excuse
Ebay glitch they said
Hour on the phone to fix it
Shipped out thus afternoon overnight
But woulda been nice to know a week ago when they boo boo d it
Good thing I am going to minneapolis instead of just turning around and heading home
Will pick it up on my way back

Just browsed some basic tutorials so far
Will look more later
Biggest thing was to order the mid range model not the lwest end unit

Its definetely looking great. I think it works out very well how you have the cold storage for food from the hotel pans within arms reach if you decide to use the stainless table surface right beside it to prep and grab in that area
