Lotsa Marriotts around Mall of America.  I had three centers in MPLS and I was there quite often.  I sorta wanted to stay close to the hubb of the group since there were so many restaurants to visit.  If Roz and I can make it, we will have a car.

Joe is also near us and maybe a Marriott....it's back in thread somewhere!  He is paired up with Jashim!

I'm changing gears!  Margaret would like to go through the Mall of America like we go through eight food stops for breakfast!  I will be upgrading.......probably Intercontinental or JW....easy access to da mall. She will join us for certain meals, but doesn't completely understand the "Spreadsheet"." />

It goes without saying that my precious cupcake will be opting out of some of the food stops to visit Zara, Nordstrom Rack, etc. at the Mall of America.  She is a little leery about Uber-ing by herself, but for this, she will probably take the plunge.  Fortunately, there is a light rail from our hotel direct to the mall.

Re: 2019 Crawl Location Discussion Thread 2019/03/13 08:01:24 (permalink)
Buddy-
I took some time last night to look through all your research and it is beyond impressive and overwhelming.  Here are my priorities:

I really want us to visit Café Latte.  The dessert lovers in the group will love the cake selections and there is plenty there for healthy eaters, too.  This is my #1 place.

One or two Juicy Lucy stops (three would be too many), with The Nook being my clear favorite.  I liked Matt's Bar much better than 5-8 Club, but the crowds at Matt's is problematic.

I would very much like to go to Kaffe Stuga up in Harris.  No doubt this isn't for everyone, but it sure sounds like my kind of place.  And it may be my only shot at getting sour cream raisin pie during the trip.

Ice cream shops make ideal visits for larger groups and, well, I just really like ice cream.  Guessing I'm not alone on that one.  My two favorites are Pumphouse Creamery and Milkjam Creamery, but certainly open to trying out other shops.

There has been some mention of arranging a private event at Al's Breakfast.  This sounds like an outstanding experience if possible.

Other than that, I am more than happy to let the powers that be decide the itinerary.  And to be perfectly honest, if we go to none of the above, that's cool, too.  You have a difficult job trying to narrow these down and to make everyone happy just isn't going to happen.

I was in the Twin Cities last year and the year before and will most assuredly be back next year.  So my preferences should probably be much further down the list.

Let me know if I can help out in any way.

My experience in MPS is limited, so 98% of what's being proposed is new to me and I'm totally fine leaving it to the experts to pick the best places.  BUT.  Al's Breakfast, privately with the group or on my own by any means necessary, is a must.

I'd also like to do some shopping, but more like Electric Fetus, not MoA.

bb,
Your comments above are all the help i need.  All the kudos and accolades are nice, but what I really need is feedback.  If everyone would express their preferences as politely and as well thought out as yours it would go a long way in helping me narrow down the list.  That process will start next week.  Then I'll spend early April actually organizing the route.

I thought the suburban 5-8 we tried was OK but really want to do Matt's and like buffetbuster said, one more Jucy Lucy stop would be excellent.

We will do the zoo we talked about earlier and a Twins game (Friday night seems optimal). Other than that, (I know you hate to hear the next part) Buddy, we trust you and thanks for all of your hard work!

Oh yeah, we like the diner an hour north and we also think Donatelli's is a strong option to parlay with that trip.

Yes Buddy-Bob,

Pie Diva will likely be joining me for an abbreviated visit, if she can end her feud with ChiBears15 before then. She's not a coffee (no Cortado) or beer (no IPA) fan, so a peace offering of Hot Chocolate (the European stuff) and Firecakes will be in order Danny.

Holy smokes BuddyRoadhouse, that's a lot of choices. Thanks for all that effort in your research. Our wanna-dos for the trip:
  • Kramarczuk’s.
  • Juicy Lucys, the best of the bunch will be sufficient, but we won't balk at two stops.
  • Ice cream stops per Cliff's recommendations.
  • A seedy breakfast joint, Al's would be optimal.
  • Café Latte if you twist my arm.
  • A Vietnamese restaurant.
  • Manning's Cafe.
  • The Parlour Bar.
  • Can-Can Minigolf.
  • Farmers markets and other food markets.
  • A diner or two.
If anyone is interested (maximum of 8 players) in doing an escape room, please let Pie Diva know and she will set something up between meals. ChiTownDiner and I are also looking for cyclists to join us for a brisk 2-hour tour of the cities. Shouldn't be much over 35 miles. #FitnessProfessional #CTDinSpandex

The above are our preferences, but anything the planners come up with will be great.

Jim
