Mushroom Burger? You bet....

Yes I was skeptical before my 1st taste but if the James Beard Foundation is behind it there must be something to it. Wood's Kitchen just outside of Savannah in Bloomingdale,GA was one of 5 winners out of 340 entrants that presented their version of a burger blend of beef and mushrooms. They chose local grassfed beef and seasonal mushrooms. Chantarelles at 1st and now creminis. The result is an earthy flavor that is beyond description.

The only condiment is grilled Sweet Vidalia onions grown less than 100 miles away. They also bake their own breads. The bun was toasted and pillowy soft to the touch.

Seasoned fresh cut fries on the side.

Lucky for us the blended burger will be a regular menu item...

If it was served around here, I'd try it. Our local burgery "The Fix", does oddball (but good) stuff like this, so maybe we will see it here soon. BTW, in full disclosure, Fix is a single location, but it is owned by a larger, local, restaurant company. Does that make it a chain??? lol

I'd eat that.  Minus the onions.

RoadieHungry Thank you for bumping my post from last year. That burger was so awesome that the 2 brothers sold the restaurant and opened a bakery.

Last year I made burgers where I sauteed the mushrooms first and then passed them through the grinder along with the cubed beef.

It did but as I recall it was pretty mild.  If I was to do this again (and I have no reason not to) I'd start with more mushrooms and really cook them down with some good caramelization.
