A few notes and stories:

* You want to know when it's time to go on a diet?  I walked in our local Graeter's Ice Cream, picked out eight pints (mostly black raspberry chip) from the freezer and took it to the register.  The teenage girl asked me, "Is this for here or to go?"  I will admit that it is nothing to eat a pint in one sitting by myself, but do I really look like I could eat eight?

A quick side note on Graeter's:
As some of you may know, Mrs. Roadhouse is an avid genealogy hound, scouring various family trees, diving into old census and record books, and taking multiple DNA tests to find a multitude of 3rd and 4th cousins, many times removed (and for good reason).

Turns out her third great aunt's husband was a guy named Arthur Paulus who was a confectioner in Cincinnati in the second half of the 19th century.  According to sources close to the Graeter family, Mr. Paulus trained 17 year old Louis Charles Graeter, as an apprentice, in the fine art of making small batches of ice cream sometime in the late 1870s.

In other words, without my wife's great-great-great uncle's influence, those eight pints of Blackberry Chip Ice Cream you purchased might not have even existed!  Proper gratitude next time we meet will be appreciated.

This non-blood relationship with a man we never met or, until recently, knew existed, entitles us to absolutely nothing, other than the ability to make the claim with relative certainty and amusement.

That's it.  Just a fun fact to share.  Carry on.

Well, I don't know about royalty...maybe just a claim to peerage.  Say a Duke or a Count.  Okay, a Baron at best, but that's it!

And special thanks for featuring the Wedding Soup from The Ladies of the Duke.

As the unofficial soup of Western Pennsylvania, how could I possibly not include wedding soup?

And thanks to you and Paul for the nice comments!

Thanks so much for taking the time to do this.  It will come in handy on future trips for sure.

One Question - what were the meats on the Primanti sandwich?

Thanks Hatteras04

As for Primanti's, capicola is my go-to sandwich.  But just last month I was there with some coworkers and a young guy named Jordan ordered the Cajun chicken and added capicola.  It was such a beautiful sandwich, I had to take a photo of it.  On my next visit, I ordered one for myself and it was as good as it looked.

Ted Peters...such an unsung place.  Give me the counter, a basket of saltines and bring it on!
