Jim, your you tube video was banned by the NFL. As far as explaining trump to me, I'm afraid you failed. I still don't get him.

Jim, your you tube video was banned by the NFL.

First, it isn't "mine", it's the NFL's.
Where did you read that it is "banned"?
Citation, please; I'm genuinely curious.

  • It was produced by Steve Sabol, the head of NFL Films, for the NFL.
  • It was originally broadcast on the NFL Network.
  • For it to be shown anywhere but on YouTube, permission must be granted by the NFL, the owner of its copyright.

If the NFL is now "banning" or "disavowing" a video commissioned by them, produced by them, copyrighted by them, and shown on their network, that's truly newsworthy.

As I said above, I believe that the NFL has actually been exploiting the flag and the Anthem for years now by turning a traditional display of national pride into a gaudy pageant -- and has done so primarily for pecuniary reasons.

Frankly, I resent such exploitation.  Further, they should change their logo's color scheme from red, white, and blue to green, silver, and gold -- the color of money!

I was not trying to "explain Trump", I was only trying to lend some logical insight into his attitude and actions in this one particular matter.

I still don't get him.

Many do, but many don't, and that's O.K.

And yes, by all means -- PEACE:

I cannot view the YouTube video. It says by NFL request or something like that.

If the rules say that the Jets touchdown catch wasn't a catch, then there's something wrong with the rules!

Agree!  The ball never came out or was even loose.

I thought it couldn't get any sillier than that Dez Bryant 'no TD' call in the playoffs, but this one 'took the cake'!.

This Sunday, I will watch the STEELERS whip up on the BUNGLES.

But I am so looking forward to empty stadiums and zero ratings on Veteran's Day.

Winston Churchill once observed that it is both undignified and impossible to lead with one's ear to the ground or standing with a wetted finger in the wind.  And, in Goodell's case, with feet constantly stepping in cow-pies.

If the owners are sticking with him in the hope of avoiding the NFLPA's getting guaranteed player contracts in the next negotiation they are hoping in vain and killing their game and their brand in the meantime.

This is truly high comedy!
It couldn't happen to a more deserving bunch.

What has happened?
In #61 above I wrote to PRAISE 'lil Danny Snyder.
And now I rise to PRAISE The 'Ol Parole Officer, plastic surgery victim and Cowboys Owner!

May I, in the interest of clarity and accuracy, suggest a small edit?

The Steelers are 7-2 and are quite frankly, a bad football team.  They have been very fortunate with an easy schedule and playing teams who just happened to be without their starting quarterbacks.  The NFL is drowning in mediocrity and the Steelers might still make it all the way to the AFC Championship game, as bad as they are.

The Bengals have their starting QB, but no QB can be successful behind the 5 stooges they have assembled to allegedly block for him

Not being a lawyer I'm just wondering ...

How can the NFL impose penalties for conduct prior to a player's being under contract to an NFL franchise?

After all the smoke, posturing, and virtue-signaling goes away I'm pretty sure that the Law will force the Court to take this view.

In such a case, the penalty imposed is that the player (usually) gets drafted later which lowers their pay over the course of the next 3 to 5 years

Mixon to us in the second round this year rather than to someone else in early round 1, for example

I can make an argument that playing for either Ohio-based team (this year and lastyear, at least) is a penalty in and of itself as well, but thats just bad luck

Exactly!

Even though I have nothing good to say about Zeke Elliott's character (see #66 above) I have to wonder how Goodell get off spending $5,000,000+ investigating his conduct BEFORE he was under contract to the NFL - especially as no charges were filed in Columbus.  Then, how Goodell can justify  arbitrarily and capriciously levying a bigger penalty against him than Ray Lewis got for murder!

No wonder The Ol' Parole Officer has a burr in his butt and has hired Boies to bite Goodell where he sits.

And "what's up" with these "other owners" threatening the recently inducted Hall of Famer with the loss of his $5 Billion franchise?

Lord Help me, but I'm actually starting to like Jerry Jones!

If you want God-dell to treat your franchise fairly, its a simple one step process to fix.

Change your fandom to either the Pittsburgh Stealers or the New England Belicheats

Done

Simple illustrative point:
Vontaze Burfict, if playing for one of those two teams
"Thats just good hard play.  Hes a talented, punishing tackler.  a hard-nosed throwback defender"

Vontaze Burfict, as a Bengal
"Dirtiest player in the NFL.  Tries to hurt everyone on every play.  Just despicable."

Your $1 against my $2 that Burfict is both bankrupt and incarcerated within five years of his final NFL game.

Not sure if you are quoting me out of context

to

a) agree that Burfict is the subject of a vendetta by the NFL (which he is)

or
b) "agree" (ie twisting my words into the opposite of their intended meaning) that he is the NFLs dirtiest player, which he is not

(those honors co-owned by two steelers and a dolphin at the moment)
